These guys are an embarrassment to the profession. As for the telephone helpline, absolutely useless. In December last year, I called 15 times over 2 weeks with a query. I was cut off 14 times with the member promising on their mother?s grave (other excuses are available) were we to be cut off again they would call me back. Not once was I called back.I submitted a formal complaint which they had to respond to and finally got someone to call me back. They didn?t even understand my most basic query. 7 days later they came back to me with a response which was nothing to do with my query.Finally I got a call back from a lady in Belfast apologising for the service and offering a token payment of £75 for the useless service. And she still couldn?t sort out my query.Yesterday, I went to the Ballymena branch. I dealt with two members of staff with another query. Neither of them had the gumption to understand my query. When I suggested that, as a company dealing in personal finance, they should have at least a basic understanding of the UK tax system, I was told I was being rude. I couldn?t believe it.I was promised a call back from their sales team. This was yesterday morning. I can guarantee you that I?ll never receive that call.It seems to me that the staff at AIB are trained in incompetence and lack of customer facing service.Likewise with other commenters, I shall be moving bank to one that is professional and employs intelligent employees.

Absolutely shocking experience in store today, went in for assistance and was walked over to a seat with a phone. Totally impersonal and when being asked my information anyone could hear what I was saying.Was on the phone for 20 minutes and my problem wasn?t even sorted out, the staff don?t know what they?re doing and they have no people skills.I?ve been with this bank since I was 16 and have had nothing but problems, definitely changing banks after today.

Hi folks,I am making a comment regarding customer service with AIB. Since taking over the First Trust bank, the customer service is a disgrace in making me feel that the money in my account isn?t my own? even when depositing funds into my account, I wasn?t asked for photographic ID, (even though I was asked for my date of birth..?) I could?ve been anyone trying to access the account. I have to produce a paper trail showing where I got my funds as the teller said they hadn?t the authority to access my account?? I thought that was their job to look up and check all of my lodgements/withdrawals on producing my AIB bank card at the time. Yet didn?t once ask for any photographic ID. The local post office was more than willing to help me with my query and have taken their advice on the matter. So thumbs up to keep the post offices open, better customer care all round.
