Cheap and room and you can see why.
Bedspread had stains on it the room smelt like an old ashtray, let's just say we stayed 5 mins before checking out and finding another hotel.
Had to phone central reservations to see about a refund, still ongoing.

Only giving this one star as zero stars wasn't an option and the reception staff were lovely and helpful. Otherwise I'd rather sleep in my car. Absolute dump, dirty, felt unsafe. Worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

I booked a 3 night stay at this hotel and got the shock of my life. My hotel room was so stuffy, linens looked used and had visible dirt. Additionally the room beside the room (5) I was assigned had someone smoking in there.
I complained to the staff who said she was a lone worker and she can't do anything to help me. I suggested a room swap but I was told they were fully booked. I tried to ring customer care but unfortunately they closed at 22:30.
A second staff came on- Jacey and made matter worse. She had no empathy and lacked customer care approach.
I paid for 3 nights and couldn't get to spend even 1 night because I would get sick from spending the night there.
This was the worst experience I have ever had.

This travellodge deserses nothing at all. They broke an item of mine. Said it will be replaced contact customer services. I did contact customer services 5 times. I have 5 case reference numbers. No one responded at all. I am still waiting for some sort of communication from them. Worse place ever and this was central northampton.
I would not recommend to anyone unless desperate.

I had a great stay at this hostel! The staff were very friendly and always ready to help. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The common area had a nice atmosphere where it was easy to meet other travelers. The location is perfect ? close to public transport, restaurants, and main attractions.I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back!

I understand for a budget hotel expectations cannot be high but it seems this place is cheap because they compromise on cleanliness. The pillows I had were heavily stained with goodness knows what, and no pillow protectors. The plastic panels in the shower do not get cleaned. Grime marks all down them. No shower gel at all. Cheap quality toilet roll. Smear marks all over the wall, didn't want to even put too much thought into what it could be. No hairdryer available in the room. This may be available by going down to reception but I didn't want to go all the way down and ask. No phone in room to call down. Free WiFi only for 30 minutes. Central location in the town was good but does mean it is noisy at times. They would have to pay me to return. Disappointed.

Don?t usually leave bad reviews, but I wanted to warn people about this place..
Run down, not the cleanest place (blood on the carpet was a start), which I can let slide. However, there is a lot of noise at night, both from the street and people in the hotel. After 10pm I heard people shouting and running around in the corridors outside the room, which made me feel quite uncomfortable.
Strange people hanging around the entrance makes it feel unsafe when walking in/out after dark. The staff are friendly enough, but there is no way this should be a hotel you pay to stay in.
I?ve stayed in travelodge hotels a lot for work and this is the worst I?ve been too.

Travelodge Northampton Central offers a no-frills, budget-friendly stay in the heart of Northampton, ideal for short visits or business trips. Located just a short walk from the town center, it's well-positioned for access to local shops, restaurants, and nightlife. The train station is also within reasonable distance, making it convenient for travelers arriving by rail.
The rooms are clean and spacious enough for basic comfort, featuring essentials like a comfortable bed, desk, TV, and tea/coffee-making facilities. While the decor is simple and slightly dated in parts, everything is functional. Bathrooms are generally clean with decent water pressure, though toiletries are minimal ? expect just hand soap and a shower gel dispenser.
One of the main advantages is the friendly and helpful staff. Guests often note the warm welcome at check-in and the team?s willingness to assist with local information or small requests. Despite being central, the hotel is relatively quiet if you?re on a higher floor or facing away from the street ? but do be aware that nearby bars can create noise, especially on weekends.

better than some I've been to very noisy at night with fans going off a few heavy foot crashes. although not a bad sleep. heard my name call out thinking it was my partner but she never said anything. spook I guess. rather expensive for what it was worth.

In the morning i was rudely interrupted while i was showering to a banging on the door and a women shouting she is going to call the police if we don?t open. the first thing she ask is ?are you smoking in here? bearing in mind i was standing with a towel feeling very uncomfortable saying no we are not smoking because you are not allowed. yes we was past checkout time by 20 minutes however we was getting ready as fast as we can and she said she is only giving us 5 minutes to get ready. 5 minutes goes by and she bangs on the door again, while i am getting ready she stands with the door open which i found unreasonable, uncomfortable and shocking. not happy with this experience. behaviour from that staff member was unacceptable.

If I was to look up horrible in the dictionary then Travelodge Northampton would come up as the definition
Uncomfortable mattress
Foul stench
No restaurant area/bar
Unhelpful staff having no knowledge of parking for example
Avoid this at all costs. There were homeless people on the street residing in better conditions
