Not in a service area, no petrol or other businesses on site. Access down a country road off the M1. Room was very dark, no central lighting. Ok as a motel stop only.

Conveniently situated just off M1 junction 16, Holiday Inn Northampton West M1/J16 offers travelers a comfortable and accessible stay. My recent experience at this hotel was marked by a mix of surprises, comfort, and a touch of awkwardness.Upon check-in, I was swiftly assigned a room, ready to unwind after a long journey. However, upon entering the room, I was startled to find another guest already asleep in the bed! Needless to say, both of us were equally shocked by the unexpected encounter. Understanding that mistakes can happen, I returned to the reception to inform the staff. The receptionist, visibly mortified by the oversight, promptly rectified the situation by offering me an alternative room. Despite the initial hiccup, I appreciated the professionalism and courtesy displayed by the staff member. It's a testament to their commitment to guest satisfaction.Settling into my new room, I found it to be quite pleasant overall. The ambiance was cozy, and the amenities were up to standard. However, one peculiar aspect caught my attention?the bathroom layout. Whoever designed it seemed to have overlooked practicality. The toilet and sink were positioned awkwardly across from the mirror, making it nearly impossible to shave comfortably. I found myself in a comical dilemma, trying to maneuver around the sink to get a clear view in the mirror. Eventually, I resorted to an unconventional solution of 'straddling' the toilet, which, needless to say, was far from ideal. Despite this design flaw, the rest of the room was comfortable and well-maintained.One of the highlights of the stay was the ample parking available on-site. It's always reassuring to have a secure parking space, especially when traveling by car. Additionally, the staff's professionalism and politeness stood out throughout my stay. Despite the initial mishap, their courteous demeanor and efficient service left a positive impression.In terms of amenities, the hotel offers the essentials for a comfortable stay. From cozy beds to reliable Wi-Fi, it caters to the needs of modern travelers. The on-site restaurant provides a convenient option for dining, although I opted to explore the nearby eateries during my stay. However, a minor inconvenience was the lack of a dedicated fitness center within the hotel premises, which might disappoint fitness enthusiasts looking to maintain their workout routine.Overall, my experience at Holiday Inn Northampton West M1/J16 was a blend of surprises and comfort. While the initial room mix-up provided an unexpected twist, the attentive staff swiftly resolved the issue, ensuring a pleasant stay. Despite the quirky bathroom layout, the hotel offers convenience, comfort, and professional service?a combination that makes it a worthy choice for travelers passing through the area. With its strategic location and hospitable staff, it remains a reliable option for those seeking accommodation in Northampton.

Booked a room to rest after a long drive, planning a further drive later the same day, £85.00 for a room which the receptionist said would be very quiet. After 3 hours of sporadic drilling in a room below mine I obviously couldn't sleep, when checking out there was barely any form of apology or refund, the lack of acknowledgement to my complaint was enough to convince me that this particular Holiday Inn might be worth avoiding, other people might be luckier than me on there stay at this Hotel, however this is my opinion on pretty poor customer service.

Booked a wheelchair accessible room but had to move furniture around just to get around the bed and some lights didn't work! not the best start. Wanted to watch some tv before bed but alot of the channels didn't work. Breakfast cost us nearly £20 and it was nasty! Hot breakfast wasn't hot, coffe was rank and it was alll just cheap and nasty

Just re-opened to the public. Stayed here for one night to break up a long journey. Arrived late, staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean, comfortable and well presented. Plenty of parking and a pleasant bar area to relax in after a long drive.

Needed to charge my car to get home. Simply left my vehicle with my dog on leash to let him stretch his legs. A staff member came out shouting that I needed to leave immediately as I was on private property. Clearly wasn't allowed to walk around the carpark as I was "endangering children" which there was none in sight. Clearly woman had a vendetta. Glad I didn't stay the night, from other reviews it sounds like the staff are pretty dire. So I stayed in the car after a 4 hour journey and waited for it to charge (on a public charging terminal) on their private property since I wasn't allowed to breathe their air

I had booked this hotel online in January 2022. I received a confirmation email. When I arrived on June 3rd 2022 I was turned away by security staff. I protested that I had a reservation. I eventually had to go to another hotel at extra cost. I complained to customer services on my return home. Complaint ignored. I complained using Facebook and received a response as "hotel closed until November rebook it then". I don't want to use IHG hotels again if I can avoid doing so. I wanted a refund of the difference at least.

Stayed here first time this week for work. It's a fairly typical HI rooms are fine, decent heater (was -4 last night) covid restriction in place are workable without issue. Only real issue like most HI is the pretty limited menu. I'm I here sun- sat so a takeaway is going to happen at some stage just for variety.
