We called in at Waitrose York for a coffee before shopping. We were served efficiently and politely by one of three young attendants behind the service counter. But thereafter our experienced wearied.Our table of choice was unserviced from the previous customer, as was most other vacant tables as we made our choice.My wife decided, to avoid embarrassment, to wipe our table with a napkin which revealed a dirtier surface than appeared.The floor area and skirting looked unswept or dusted for several days.We conclude that as the coffee was only "ok", we are unlikely to call again.We hope this constructive.

I got some oxtail, which was fine. But I went about three times or so without getting the lanb rib I wanted, which was frustrating.

Although I often use the shop, this was only my second time in using the cafe, having been put off the first time. Once again, the same problems. Shortage of staff possibly but long wait in the queue to order; long wait for food. Tables weren't cleared (we had to clear our own). The food was okay but nothing special - for example, no garnishes with the rolls we ordered. Poor presentation. My partner had a bacon roll which he said was dry (streaky bacon used & overcooked). No wonder there were plenty of seats available. Very disappointing (especially for Waitrose).

Beautiful veal jus - exquisitely delicious and not usually available. Expensive but worth it for Christmas gravy.

I am a regular customer at Waitrose and three times last week I bought products that had a misleading price tag on the shelf. Because of that, I returned to the store after looking at my receipt to ask for the correct price and get a refund. I'm disappointed as it shows that the customer is not respected. Although I like the products the price on the shelves needs to be the same when checking out.

Shop here every week but came away this morning in a rushed state - the tills were busy so doing the right thing - an extra person was brought to the tills to help out with the queues. To say we were rushed through at speed is an understatement - I?ve never had to pack so fast in my life. Paid and still had items to pack however the eager staff member was already putting the next customer through - I?m not a slow packer. Never known till action like it - she could definitely compete in a competition for going as fast as you possibly could!! Came away actually laughing with my other half at this experience - not quite relaxed Sunday morning shopping. Not the usual experience to shopping with you.

Went for breakfast, not impressed at all. It came served in what looked like a large soup bowl,cheap streaky bacon, hard tomatoes and swimming in a mixture of grease and watery stuff off the mushrooms. By the time the breakfast arrived the tea was cold. Overall not an experience I would recommend to anyone

I visited the cafe to have a rest before heading home I ordered tea and cheese scone. The cafe was quiet and the staff were pleasant but the cheese scone was exceptionally sweet rather than savoury. Was there a mix up with the dough?

I would have given Waitrose York 5 stars if it hadn't been for the person working on customer services at 8.10 am 5/9/23. I was stood at the door in full view of customer services, together with 5 other people attempting to enter to store Despite the gentleman making eye contact and another female member of staff walking directly towards us, she also did not open the door. One of the people who was also waiting banged on the door and then the gentleman came to open the door. He was questioned why the door wasn't open, he stated it was open and had a fault. So he had decided to ignore everyone waiting at the door.

Long wait times to order. Loads of uncleared tables. Lots of things not available on the board. Seems weird in a supermarket. Makes me think the food can?t be freshly prepared. Ordered fish tacos. Long long wait. Meanwhile other customers were being told ( after long waits at their tables), I?m sorry we don?t have?. Customers were clearing tables themselves to other tables before they sat down. Poor hygiene How was the tacos ? No idea. After close to 40 minutes I gave up
