Then beds were not made and we only had one hand towel to share. The breakfast was great and staff were very friendly and the location was great for all the attractions.

Dog friendly, nice clean rooms and bedding. The hotel is on a busy junction on a popular road, so isn't the quietest day or night.

The evening staff team was very friendly and check-in was quick. The only drawback was that on Saturday morning breakfast opened very late, at eight o'clock.

Cannot fault this hotel at all. First time staying here and was so much better than any of the Premier inns we have used in York.
Staff were always friendly, breakfast is great value and lots of choice. I like you help yourself to as much or little as you want.
Room was clean, beds are so comfy, great shower and we opted for a quiet room which you pay a little extra but was worth it and a bonus we had a view of the minster.
Have already booked to stay again for our annual Christmas visit in December and will use for all visits next year too.

Nice tidy hotel, just used as a place to sleep for the night, so not bothered about amenities. Nightclub nearby was a but loud, but nothing travelodge can do about that hence the 4 stars.

Great price and amazing location. Lots of great restaurants nearby. Located next to river ouse and a 5 min walk from the centre if that.
We had the breakfast which was delicious both days.
The room got quite warm even with the fan running in the middle of september. The bathroom door was also very loud and creaky.
However, all things considered the room was amazing for its placement and the ammenties are great.

My first visit to York and it was very good.

The first room we were in was in somewhat poor condition with damage to the skirting board, dirt on the chair, etc, and the windows let in a lot of external noise, plus there was a half eaten chocolate bar left in the fridge so obviously not cleaned thoroughly. A couple in the room next to us had a massive and prolonged argument in the middle of the night, in which he was screaming at her and using various expletives to the point I was concerned about domestic violence and was completely anxious and on edge. I had to go down to reception multiple times as each time they came up, the noise stopped and they wouldn't do anything if they didn't hear it (even though I had recordings). When they eventually did hear it, our room was moved but the other guests were allowed to stay despite obvious safety concerns. We then had 3 drunk males try to get into our room a while later. Neither of us got much sleep as a result. We were assured we would receive a £75 voucher for the disruption, and could contact customer service for a further refund (having paid £380 for two nights). We received a £25 voucher and customer services refused to honour the original promise, nor to escalate the issue further. We also found out that the aggressive guest was in fact provided with another room, so clearly the safety of other guests is not paramount. Honestly so disappointed with the outcome, given we thought the staff had understood how stressful the experience was, and they even had commented on how race weekend was always bad and had promised us a fair resolution. This is my first experience with Travelodge, and is likely to be my last.

I have stayed in probably hundreds of hotels in my life, yet never encountered anything like what we experienced in this hotel. The hotel itself is basic and rundown, and also lacking air con throughout the recent heatwave. However, this is not our primary worry. The staff were so incredibly rude and incompetent, my husband and I felt forced to leave the evening we arrived, despite having paid for our stay and breakfast the next morning - yes it was THAT awful. We raised our worries with the staff in question who showed absolutely no concern or reflection regarding the fact her rudeness had caused us to feel the need to leave the hotel. We have raised our concern about her incompetence and rudeness, but in the meantime would advise people to avoid this hotel. It is a shame as the location is fantastic, but our experience has put us off Travelodge for life.

Excellent location close to everything. Staff are very welcoming the car park is nip and it is £26 per night but you get 33% off at the travelodge which does however have a free car park for blue badge holders but give reg in at reception. Breakfast is exceptional however the pancakes set on fire in the toaster but there is no warning sign but there is for the quasonts. Rooms exceptionally clean good bar area. Rooms are very hot a fan is provided.

Stayed in York for 1 night. Reception staff lovely and helpful on booking in and our room available early. Room adequate and clean BUT the curtains aren't blackout and with no blind either the sun was streaming through at 5am. So I can't say we had a great night's sleep. Location perfect for a short walk straight into centre.
