This for me is one of the best options to eat in York, it is a great option if you want to eat in front of the river with a great atmosphere and great food. Would really recommend the risotto and the chops.

The food was excellent. It took a while for us to be served each course, but it meant we didn't feel rushed. I'm not sure if that was intended or not. Located in the old Engine House on the edge of York's Museum Gardens, close to the historic Lendal Bridge and Tower, The Star Inn The City has an enviable riverside position. The Brasserie-style restaurant opened in 2013, after Andrew Pern of the Michelin-starred Star Inn at Harome joined the building owners in their quest to establish a food-led celebration destination in one of York's unique locations.
The aim of matching its beautiful setting with the best produce, which God's Own County has to offer and genuine Yorkshire hospitality has resulted in the eaterie quickly becoming a firm favourite for special meals, such as graduation celebrations, birthdays and anniversaries.
