Exceptional gastropub in a beautiful location. The food and service is of a very high standard. The subtle sophistication of the interior adds to the warm, relaxed ambience. Highly recommended.

Cosy place, busy for a Friday afternoon but lovely food. Other customers friendly and chatty, real fire but had water bowls for dogs. Good location as we were walking a 9 mile circular!

Went for mother's day. Great service, excellent food and a great drinks choice too. Thoroughly recommended. It's a cracking location too, on a summer's day it would be great to sit out on the patio.

Just come back from having lunch at the Owl, firstly so pleased the inn is open again & thriving. The welcome with the fire & sport on the tv in the bar area was fab. The attentive staff in the restaurant were lovely. Now the food (we have eaten at the restaurant in Helmsley) AMAZING, so so tasty it was like eating in a French auberge, fabulous flavours. The desert of local rhubarb just superb & to finish coffee. We?ll be back soon. Thank you & so lucky to have such quality on our doorstep.

What a fabulous find with outstanding views, the menu is mix of traditional and more modern. Pork scratchings, beautifully cooked which melt in your mouth but with an interesting twist - a walnut dip. Amazing. Yorkshire Rarebit not too strong but with a lovely warmth of flavour following on from the initial taste of cheese. langoustine, with fabulous sauce and Chicken broth with dumplings, and that?s all before the main dishes. The cooking was exceptional the chef managed to get multiple layers of taste working together in harmony. I fabulous ?foodie? experience, we loved it.

I absolutely love it here - food and service is great, Sunday lunch is actually enjoyable for me (I don?t eat meat so often feel left out) with ironically very meaty cod or other tasty choices. Gorgeous fire - my dog was well happy!Genuinely would have my wedding here, the outside area would be stunning in summer and the beer/wine selection is top notch. The puddings are out of this world - dreamy creamy homemade custard! ?Nearby activities: Loads of hiking trails on its doorstep, the nearby Helmsley is a gorgeous village/town with birds of prey centre and an Abbey in RivealxFood & drinks: Smashing local Yorkshire produced, all cooked from scratch.

5 of us popped in for a mid mountain bike ride lunch yesterday, and despite being pretty muddy we were welcomed with open arms. Lovely food and atmosphere. Recommended.

Pheasant on the menu; but what other great surprises; I had a cauliflower main, first time ever but had it on the recommendation of FOH; and I was not disappointed. The staff are really friendly, could not do enough to please. The pub is set in outstanding countryside, with great wines and great food, what more do you need for a weekend break. Well done to all the staff and thank you for such a pleasant stay ?.

Food was poor quality and quite expensive for what it was. Coffee was good though.
