Popped in few a quick drink. I ordered a Guinness and has to be the worst drink I have had. The poorest pour I have seen, I asked them to top the head of my beer off which seemed to make it worst with poor attitude from staff. If you are a keen Guinness drinker, this isn?t the pub for you.

A great place to stay, rooms were nicely decorated and clean, all the staff we encountered were courteous and nothing was a problem for them. The food was great and we had a lovely stay with them.

So much about this place is top class - beautiful location, delightful staff, lovely food, outstanding Aqualiser shower, luxury robes - but a minor issue with servicing the room, a slightly chaotic breakfast service and the absence of an easy chair in the room costs them a star. Would I stay there again, of course I would.

Rooms: Our room was extremely nice. Large spacious with a wonderfully large and comfortable bed. The bathroom was well appointed and I enjoyed the jacuzzi bath.Nearby activities: We visited my husband?s old school nearby which was very special. Spending time with a few monks that knew him from his time there 46 years ago. It?s a beautiful setting and well worth a visit. Also the market town of Helmsley is such a pretty town.Food & drinks: Food was fantastic. Everything tasted so fresh and perfectly cooked. I highly recommend the duck main course. Simply excellent. All the staff were so polite and helpful. Would certainly stay again.

Room did not have a fridge so only had warm water to drink; poor position of power points as we had 2 mobiles and two i pads so very poor to use them at ankle height, and Sunday dinner is at 5.00pm yes 5.00pm so tough after arriving at 6.30 to be told restaurant closed! Breakfast at 8.30 is crazy late, should be 6.30 for overseas visitors and internet password is not mentioned in the ?welcome ? booklet, so we had to ask-rather sloppy!We wont stay here again!!!!Staff were excellent though, suggest they look for new jobs as this place is close to collapsing!

Superb family room booked...in fact two adjoining rooms plus shared bathroom. Great decor, super king comfy bed plus two big singled in 2nd room. Coffee machine and goodies plus sparling water much appreciated....village is lovely with an epic miniature railway 100m away.We had supper in the oak conservatory. A great menu...all local sourced and plenty of it...clean plates all round.Theakstons on tap plus large ine wine menu. Breakfast was better than any we have had out....

Went for Sunday lunch, have been a dozen times and it is consistently a delicious meal with a great menu and range of Specials.Very professional and friendly staff and set in one of the prettiest villages. Fully recommended in every way.

Cannot recommend this place enough. Food was absolutely delicious. Service and accommodation was absolutely spot on, and the location is delightful. Nice, quiet, and beautiful location in the heart of North Yorkshire. Definitely can't wait to go back and stay again
