They had held a sale of a sweater and when we arrived at the cashier, the system said that it was at a different price, the lady first stated that she could sell it at the price that they wanted since the law stated that they have 24 hours to change a sale, as a lawyer myself that sounded kind of sketchy but since consumer law isn?t my area of expertise I argued that the whole section showed that sweater in a sale with a cheaper price. The lady continued arguing the same thing and called her manager to verify the price to which the manager concluded that since all prices of the same sweater where marketed at said sale price she had to sell it at the shown sale price.
The problem is not the mistake, it?s the way of being condescending. Even though at the end they respected the offer price I would not come back or encourage someone to go because if your trusting they can take advantage of you, specially as it was my was when you look like a tourist.

Visited the Edinburgh woollen shop in Edinburgh, what a lovely shop, and the staff were extremely helpful as tgey were ok with me using my mobility scooter in there the staff were very understanding, i was very careful and they found me some jumpers i wanted, so very helpful, the quality is great washes up fab and the prices were reasonable, i even go on their website whichis great

I went into Edinburgh Woollen Mill to find a nice gift for my grandmother after the loss of my grandad. I was appalled at the vile customer service I received (in that I essentially received 0 customer service). An older blonde lady (I assume the manager?) was so flippant and seemed to want to push customers out of the door rather than actually help. After working in customer service for 10+ years, I was shocked by the lack of care. I?d be absolutely ASHAMED if anyone I worked with had the same attitude as this woman.
Honestly, I would circumvent this shop entirely & seek good products with NICE staff elsewhere in York as there are plenty of options.

I visited York a few years ago. It was a 2 day visit and I managed to visit the cathedral and wander through the Shambles area. It wasn't my 1st visit so remembered to take some comfy shoes. I gleaned some good ideas in the Edingburgh Wool shop (I've always liked kilts as they remind me of my younger days - they were quite fashionable in the 1970's & 1980's) . There's always a good selection of clothing and it helps to see a range of tartan fabrics: reflecting the different clans and regions of Scotland.
The York Minster tour (closeby) was very interesting too

Products are nice but the customer service is appalling to say the least. From someone in the same field I was floored by how we were pushed out the door so they could close ahead of schedule, all while we spent nearly £150. We ended up leaving 8 minutes before closure time after being rushed in 4 different occasions, from 20 minutes to 12 minutes before closure. I?ve had customers keep me open late a dozen times and it never crossed my mind to repeatedly rush them, let alone so I could close ten minutes early. The cashier was a lot nicer so that needs to be said. But so many negative reviews about staff surprised it hasn?t been addressed
