I?m actually praising the small Country Barbour stockist shop next to the larger shop , it is part of Smarts but specialises in country wear . I?ve bought numerous Viyella shirts and treated my wife to a long quilted Barbour in their sale at Christmas. I always chat to the staff when I?m in the store , they?re knowledgeable with the stock and can actually hold a conversation ( not like the young staff some shops have ) . I?ve walked out of their shop today with a lovely buttoned down collared Viyella shirt . So when the boss reads this , please praise Linda and Jane I met today and in the past Stephen who also is helpful and knowledgeable.

Although I didn't make a purchase the gentleman nevertheless was courteous and took time to show me some quite superb jackets. I will certainly remember this service if decide to buy said jacket.

Having shopped for clothes all over the world, the service and knowledge here is exemplary. Mike was simply superb. He was excellent with his advice yet never pushy to purchase anything. It's rare to have someone as knowledgeable as him when buying men's clothing. If there was a benchmark set at selling men's clothes, it was set here. Whole heartedly recommended.

Purchased over £500 worth of clothing here just before Christmas, and purchased a number of other items here previously. Generally really impressed with the service and support from the staff - I really like to support local independent businesses. However, I wore one of the sweatshirts once (I think I paid £140+ for it) and the material has pulled, making it look as though I?ve had it for years. I have been in to Robert Smart twice now to discuss the problem and they have repeatedly told me to take it home and wash it. I don?t want to wash the garment as I am concerned that this may further damage the material - a replacement garment or a full refund would be preferred given that the quality is clearly compromised. My requests have been to no avail and so now I?m left with a garment I can?t wear, and £140 worse off. Really disappointed with the service as I genuinely believed I was a valued, repeat customer. Won?t be returning!

Popped in briefly for a look at the jackets. The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable and prices are fair considering the barbour brand.
