I have tried to contact the branch in York twice today and asked for a call back. Twice the bank has rung me back then cut me off. I will be calling into the branch in York to complain.

I have recently had two bereavements within 4 days of each other, my head was a mess but coming into the bank the staff were gentle & understanding straight away. They were sensitive & dealt with me quickly & offered to help me where they could. I also received a most beautiful bouquet of flowers which they had secretly dashed out for! I got hugs & it meant the world at such a traumatic time

Wasted 5 hours on hold and a lot frustration trying to send a relatively small sum of money to purchase a van. I appreciate there needs to be some security but the hoops I had to jump through were crazy. Sort it out Natwest. Absolute joke

NatWorst.Ordered a debit card two months ago but couldn't physically get to the branch till last week to pick it up. Knowing about their security policy - they destroy unclaimed cards after 2 weeks - I called the "service centre" twice in the intervening period to make sure they didn't destroy it. First time they said they'd put a note on the account ; second time just called to double check, "that's all OK Sir". All seemed well.Turned up last week after two day drive to get to the branch and guess what.. they'd destroyed the card. Happy holidays! Took so long to get things sorted out - 90 min - that I got a parking ticket on the car. Thank god for Revolut.

Went to pay some cheques in today, first time using this branch since lockdown. No queue either side of the building so I loitered at the door for a while wondering if I should enter. The place was nearly empty, only one gentleman at the payment machines and no-one queueing for the cashier so I went inside. Nobody questioned me so I proceeded to use a machine to pay my cheques in. Half way through a lady suddenly confronted me asking why I was not using the end machine, accused me of jumping the queue ( there wasn?t one) and said I should have spoken to her at the door first, she then went on to say she had just been on a break( I?m supposed to be psychic!) I told her that there was no queue and that since there was no-one at the door either I had just come inside, adding that it?s quite stressful not knowing what the rules are in each place. I didn?t receive any form of apology for her behaviour and left feeling very stressed. I am an Optometrist so I work with patients daily and am well aware of the stress that the coronavirus has caused for both staff and customers, I just feel that this situation should have been dealt with a lot better, ultimately I was not within two metres of anyone the few minutes I was in the bank so her attitude was unecessary. Perhaps the signage outside the bank needs altering if I had missed something on the way in ?

NatWest is my bank, although this location is not my branch, and having banked with NatWest for over 30 years and had no real cause to complain about anything they have done. In fact many new services have made banking easier and safer. We all need banks and in my opinion NatWest is no better and no worse than any of the other UK banks that we could mention. So let's get over the banking crisis and look forward to a brighter future?

Terrible wait time cashing in, very annoying

New "service desk" method clearly not working. 30 minute wait to transfer some money to an account with a different bank. Will probably close this account down after using Natwest for 11 years.

Unhelpful banking & snobby staff that lie! - Our local branch had recently been closed down so we visited the York City Centre branch to discuss opening a couple of saving accounts one been a joint account which according to their telephone banking service we had to open in branch due to needing a couple of physical signatures from both parties involved.
Upon visiting the branch we approached (or should I say interrupted) 3 members of staff who were just stood around talking and weren't serving anyone. After somewhere over 30 awkward seconds of waiting for one of them to acknowledge us one of the staff reluctantly turned to deal with us.
We explained what we wanted to do & what we'd been told by their telephone banking service to be told that they were too busy to deal with that request and we'd have to arrange an appointment (the bank was empty and there were 5 members of staff in view and at the time no one was serving anyone).
We explained that we had tried to book an appointment online however according to their online website there were slots available but we couldn't select or get confirmation of an appointment. Upon hearing this the women just looked down her nose at us as if we were lying (I didn't take the name of this woman however she was quite old, had short dark hair and came across a bit uptight).
We then said we'd just leave it to which this woman just said fine and turned to get back to her conversation with her colleagues.
As we were there we went to one of the cashiers to draw out some money to then be asked about our mortgage (clearly wanting to try and sell us their products) and that someone would be able to talk us through our options while we were there - so no time to discuss savings that cost them money however quite happy and available to discuss us moving our mortgage to them to make money.
So in summary; staff stood around doing nothing but gossiping with each other, staff lying to us and talking to us like something on the bottom of their shoe.
We've banked with Natwest for over 15 years... And quite frankly I'm disgusted by this individual representative from their branch today.
Well here's your well deserved 1 star Natwest, 1 Market St, York YO1 8SR you earned it... I'd bet as well that the account we wanted to set-up wouldn't have taken more than 10 minutes to do.
