Great evening at Meltons, food and wine outstanding, service first class, kitchen had a broken ice cream machine, no worries off down the road goes the owner to get ice cream from the local parlor, quality and would recommend every day of the week and twice on Tuesday!!

Been twice now, and both times amazed by the quality of the food here. If you want to experience fine dining but without the excessive price tag, this is a little gem just outside of York city centre.

Just an incredible experience. Ease of booking, friendliness and warmth of staff, fantastic wine list, ambience and, my god, the food. The detail and effort that must go into the dishes is fantastic. The accompanying sauces are perfect, the dishes painstakingly prepared and served, cooked to absolute perfection and are sublime. If you?re looking to give your palate a royal treat, visit here. We had the Tasting Menu and were absolutely delighted. Simply the best food we?ve ever tasted. A huge thank you to the chefs and all the staff for making it such an unforgettable experience for us both.

A birthday treat so we both went for the tasting menu and just one wine flight. From the start, the wine somelier was fabulous, explaining all the different wines as the meal progressed - all fabulous including the sparkling to start, which is often just too bubbly, but this was perfect. The food, absolutely top notch, and it would be difficult to single out a single course, but for me personally, the lamb was magnificent, as were all of the three aperitifs to start. The strawberry desert was very much, as promised, melt in the mouth.
It's a real treat here so book ahead. Not exactly in the city centre but easily walkable. All staff welcoming and charming. Definitely worth a visit - we will be back also.

My wife and I went for dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The reviews were good so we had high hopes and we were certainly not disappointed! The food was superb setting small and the staff helpful and attentive. There is a choice of an eight course tasting menu or a three course meal. We opted for the latter, my wife had scallops to start and I had a tomato dish and we both followed with the lamb, then a white chocolate delice to finish. It was without doubt one of the nicest dining experiences we?ve had in a long time.

This was our first visit to Meltons and what a gem. The food was sublime; every course was stunning. The welcome was very warm and friendly and the service spot on. If you?re in York and you like fine cuisine you will not be disappointed in Meltons

Superb food and flavours across the complete tasting menu. Excellent service and detailed description of each dish on arrival. Nice relaxed timing and not rushed or too long. Had many taster menus and this ranks amongst the best I've had.

Here for a friends birthday yesterday. The tasting menu was superb. Combination of flavour and texture second to none. Excellent service in a lovely atmosphere. A thoroughly enjoyable experience soon to be repeated.

The food was excellent, the wine recommendations superb. As a vegetarian, I was just as well catered for as the meat eaters. We had the private dining room and it was all very relaxed, but still with excellent and unobtrusive service. The Cooper King Single Malt Whisky was also delicious. We can?t wait to go back!
