We spent all day enjoying lovely York. Overall a dissatisfying poor experience. The food was cooked but only simply. Not recommendable. Expensive nonsense for very little. My friends were also there is a chef says this was awful. His restaurant would have resolved the disappointment with the customer. But not here they were not interested. Looking around other diners also looked dissatisfied. Portions were simple, plain and below value. We also asked for other fixed menu selections but were advised they were not available. Chicken Milanaise size was ok, small rocket salad and ramekin of mayo, main course was not. Could not taste any seasoning, bland. Friends main courses were similarly 'short' portions on 'bowl plates'. Should have included pasta and extra, you have to purchase separately! When pasta is so cheap why can't they provide decent portion to satisfy customers? Other places do! Imagine what the starters are like! Waiter was cold service and really should not be in this industry. We could not leave fast enough. We 'smacked' the money to them and went to another quality restaurant. We watched them cash up quietly. The ambiance is great but is not going to leave you satisfied, don't be fooled. The food should be good and feed you. Poor quality go elsewhere. Lucia's could at least provided a decent meal of quality, quantity and value. Our experience with other restaurant's in York left us feeling satisfied for similar price. We are not poor but we know when it's not worth it! This is a shameless place. No apology is good enough especially after taking our money. We spent good money elsewhere. No weasel words from the owner can rectify this. We can go back to York but not here. Make up your own minds.

Disgusted booked week in advance for our anniversary only to be told at 2pm no Sunday lunch left which we pre ordered. No call no nothing. £40 taxi to get there. Please avoid this place

My wife and i have been coming to Lucia?s for the past 14 years.
It?s our favourite stop for dinner in York (& Harrogate when it was open). We usually stop by twice a year and have always enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere.
But?.. our last visit was truly disappointing.
The food was so plain. The steak was bland. I opted for mushroom sauce. To put into context this has always been a favourite of mine, now it looks and tastes like a tin of Heinz mushroom soup, instead of the lovely sauce it once was. A side order of tender stem broccoli was always tasty. It had a hint of chilli oil and seasoned well, it was tasty, now it?s just plain old broccoli. No flavour. The fries were so bad I couldn?t honestly get my head around it.
It begs the question, is it cutting corners to save money, is it a change of kitchen staff. Are the management aware of the quality coming out of the kitchen?
We won?t be going again.
A little tip, don't go on a Friday or Saturday night, this way you?ll avoid all the nasty drunks and they?re vulgar shouting at each other.
The greeters should be turning away people who are heavily in drink.

Had the best experience, food was superb, the waiter/waitresses service was first class! Eleanor went out of her way to make me the best dessert I've ever had.

Hi, this was our favourite place in York and even had in my wallet an original loyalty card from 2014. until the 5/10/24.
Lovely birthday dinner, until then we rudly asked to move from our table without any pre warning until the end as our plates were wiped away.
When I fed back to a lady server as the table next to us were still sat at their table with coats on and they finished for quite a while, we were quite rudly made to move from our table by our server just as we had finished our main cource and was treated like a burden and inconvenience.
Not even any mention of if we would like desert. I mentioned this, and I was told we can do in the bar.
My evening was ruined.
I appreciate that you were busy, but being forced to move and treated quite badly, I must say, and not getting a proper apology when I paid has left a bitter taste.

I had high expectations for this Italian restaurant based on my Airbnb host's recommendation. Unfortunately, my experience fell short.
The service was below average, with slow response times and poor hospitality from the receptionist. I was even asked to carry my own menu to the table, which was quite surprising.
The food quality was disappointing as well. My pulled beef risotto was lukewarm, and when I requested a water refill, it took over half an hour for it to arrive, despite several staff members passing by.
I was also confused about the bread situation. They merely asked if we wanted it served before our meal, which led me to believe it was complimentary. Instead, I was charged £7, and they even asked to take the basket away while we still had some bread left.
Additionally, I was not informed about the limited dining time, so when I was presented with the bill and told I had only 15 minutes left, I was quite displeased.
Overall, I won't be returning to this restaurant again.

We had a great time first time in York with my girlfriend squad. Emily, who served us was amazing, very helpful and going above and beyond to make sure that we're happy with food Thank you Emily! The food is tasty and the atmosphere great!
