Attentive staff in a very helpful.Beautiful Georgian building interior is opulent . Lunchtime menu until 5PM at reasonable prices £12.95 one course &17.95 for two courses can't remember the price of three courses.Plenty of choice on the menu much more than pizza unlike a number of others

My friend and I visited for dinner on 8th August. I cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. Amazing food, great location and lovely staff. Will definitely return when I visit York again.
For anyone visiting the restaurant, I recommend the Risotto tartufo di pollo and the Linguine alla Pescatora. Both dishes were fantastic.

We dined here to celebrate our son's 14th birthday and our first visit & first impressions count, a truly majestic restaurant in the heart of York and such a beautiful building and the attention to detail is second to none, now onto the food, the 3 of us shared starters and had Bruchetta and the other starter Brie, both were absolutely delicious, main course my wife and son had Spaghetti Bolognese and I had Arancine Della Casa and for me personally one of the finest Italian dishes I have ever eaten, everything about this restaurant is perfect, great location, great food, great wine, great staff, on our next visit to York this would be our first choice, massive appreciation to all the team who work so hard at this fine restaurant and already looking forward to our next visit.

Not sure why people put good reviews as this was the most terrible restaurant in York or Yorkshire. Dirty tables, dirty seats and windows....flies everywhere. Serve burnt food like coal, acknowledging it is burnt and manager hides behind tills to not face customers. Seafood is acidic and smells terrible, clearly gone off date. Stale bread. Waiters bring 2 times incorrect orders. Pizzas have cut out holes hidden by mushrooms ontop. ? pizza is just bread, pure bread dough and it's soggy. I can't believe they claim to be great, really was hilarious and disgusting! ???

Fantastic food and great service!
We had the three course meal and struggled to decide what to have as a lot of choice. I settled for the squid and prawns to start and then the beef cheeks, while hubby had mussels followed by sea bream. All superb!
Banoffee pie and taramisu absolutely divine!
Dog friendly which was perfect. Would highly recommend!

What can I say... thank you so much for the evening. All 4 of us enjoyed it! Firstly, the portions were impressive, we all noticed that. The meat and fish were beautifully cooked, the vegan pasta was delicious and perfectly al dente. Aside from the food, the service was noticeably smooth, friendly and we were made to feel so welcome. Everyone around us looked to be having a great time too. It made our evening really special, I can?t thank you enough ?

The Aperol Spritz were the perfect ratio.

Outstanding service and food ? we decided to eat here while we were on a day trip to York to celebrate one of our group's birthday ? beautiful atmosphere in the restaurant itself and the staff were prompt, considerate (especially with regards to the allergy of another member of our group) and interacted with humour with us all. The food was sensational and the overall price was reasonable. They even bought out a small dessert with a candle in it for our birthday girl, which was a lovely touch.
Cannot recommend La Vecchia Scuola more highly.
