This bank is a joke went in today to to close my late brothers account i have been granted probate etc.
I was told bereavement department was the department i needed to ues over the phone or online however they could help and close the account and they did but would not release funds as it was now in the hands of the bereavement dept and they would be in touch.
I was told probate didnt matter they couldn't release funds because they have system yes a flawed system at that unbeleaveble the bank wants to hold on to funds its a disgrace !

I?ve honestly never felt so uncomfortable dealing with a bank. Every staff member I spoke too was rude, patronising, and made me feel like a nuisance for simply trying to transfer my own money. It felt like they were doing everything possible to make the process difficult, which makes me wonder if that?s part of their policy..?
After the way I was treated, I looked online and saw that I?m not the only one it seems like this kind of experience is happening a lot. I?ve now closed all my accounts and switched to an online bank that actually values its customers and treats them with basic respect.

Went in today to put some money in for a family member. The two Staff members on the floor there acted like they didn't want to help you or be there. one was rude which is odd considering your job is to help customers. would definitely consider switching banks...thankfully the family member i went to pay money in for is now moving banks i'm glad i did definitely after that experience. Maybe have a look at who the two women on staff were today and get them through some training.

Unfortunately Halifax has now lost us to another bank. My son has banked with them all his life and was excited to open a current account when he turned 11. We caught the train which cost a lot of money as all our nearest branches have closed. We were then told that there was not one member of staff that had the ability to open an account?in York?.a CITY!! We apparently had to book an appointment with one particular member of staff in Leeds! How ridiculous!
We walked across the road and opened an account with another bank. Opened the account straight away. No appointment needed. I will be closing the Halifax account now.

Wanted to withdraw cash more than ATM would allow had to wait 10 mins while the one staff member who was on the desk talked a woman through deposit cash in the ATM other staff walking about asked what I wanted explained I wanted more cash out and told had to wait for the one member on the desk to finish what she was doing poor service. Been with Halifax for 40 years thinking of moving to another bank

One of the worst banks. Very poor customer service. Bank staffs themselves don't know many things and give wrong advice. Due to a wrong advice given to me, the staff stressed the hell out of me. I had to call the Halifax frauds team to set it right.
Dear Halifax bank, your staff need better training.

Used the halifax in parliament street in york on Friday 30th Aug in the afternoon, to my knowledge the only one left in york. Paying in machine out of order again! Only 1 member of staff working on the till, 4 other members of staff stood around with computer tablets doing nothing, as there was 5 customers including myself wanting to pay money into accounts. When we asked the manager ( who obviously isn't very good at managing) why someone couldn't go on the empty till to serve customers I was told that they can only have 1 till open as 90% of their customers do business on the tablets. There was a member of staff there who does normally work on the till so she could have easily jumped on to serve the queue of people! Absolutely shocking, I am looking to take all my accounts elsewhere where customer service is better.

Staff were effective at keeping the wait to a minimum, and have on many accounts, proven to be incredibly knowledgeable of what they are doing. I do not write reviews often, but this place has incredible staff and a very convenient placement as it is right next to Stone Bow, my bus stop. If you need advice, aid or a simple query, I am certain you will be treated great.

Went there this morning big queue 2 on counters told could be ages before been seen couldn't wait have to go to work usually go Saturday but you close at 2.00PM now no good to me

Really useful and friendly staff, always seems quite busy, but they don't seem under staffed as all bays are open.Also, side note, they have one of the better banking apps available I've swapped between most now and found Halifax the most reliable of the lot.
