Having used Halfords for ages in the past, due to the treatment received, never again. What was a simple brake refit turned into Halfords keeping my car in for two days. Booked in at 08:00 with a pick up of after 2pm, called at 2pm to be told parts not arrived but would be here by 3pm, called at 3pm, still no parts then to be called after 4pm to be told parts not available today, I can collect tomorrow. So after explaining I live 45 miles away, I was stuck with nowhere to go, I did eventually find somewhere to kip overnight. So day two, still no parts by 3pm. Eventually the parts arrived by around 4:30pm. Picked the car up, set off, no handbrake, called back, bring it in Monday. Did they knock a few quid off, no chance. Still not got the email to review them for some reason, I do wonder why.

Poor. Phoned ahead to see when our car could have its brakes looked at. Told to be there on Wednesday for 0750. Car then not looked at all morning and then advised it would need new brake pads and a calliper but that couldn't be done until Friday at a cost of £620. 'Never beaten on price' - what rubbish. Called a mobile fitter who came to the house, sorted the brakes on the same day and charged less than £400. I won't be going near Halfords again anytime soon.

The Auto-centre workers are absolute reptiles. Will still continue with an MOT when they can see cosmetic damage that results in a fail? without notifying you to get fixed before you pay for the test.Shiraz is absolutely clueless and poor customer service.

Have just been absolutely blown away by the awesome customer service at the Foss Islands store.Went in for a fairly standard bike repair, but left with a restored faith in humanity. Fella called Andy went above and beyond, quick, helpful, friendy throughout.Honestly made my day, so thank-you.

Rude staff. Went for an MOT and they had done something to my seatbelts and when I asked about it they very rudely told me it was already like that, when I could no longer put on my seatbelt when I know for a fact I was wearing it driving to the MOT. After a LOT of them saying things under their breath they said they?d fix it and get in contact with me to bring my car back in. I have rang them on multiple occasions and they keep saying they?ll ring me. They have no intention on fixing their mistake and are extremely rude whenever I ask. I heard one guy as he was walking away from me say under his breath ?f**king idiot?. Unprofessional

I purchased 2 new tyres on line for my wife?s car, and used Halford?s excellent web site to book her car in for 9.30 am, at York - Foss Island, which gave me enough time to get to another urgent appointment I had that morning. I arrived at 09.25; on arrival, the chap behind the reception desk asked for my details and asked if wanted the tyres fitted front or rear. He then asked for the keys, and said the car would be ready in 2 hours. At this point I expressed my dissatisfaction that I had booked the car in for 09.30, so I could get to another urgent appointment. The chap then explained that the website booking in time is simply that ?a booking in time?, and he had 50 other cars to deal with. I pointed out I didn?t have time to wait 2 hours and would like to cancel and have my money back. At that time he pushed a few buttons on his computer and said, you?ve been refunded, the money will be credited in 6 days. I wasn?t happy with that, so asked to see the manager, at which point he said ?I am the manager?, why are you hanging around. I asked for the number of customer services, which he reluctantly gave me, followed by the comment, ?if you put in a complaint, it will come to me, and I will just close it?I subsequent spoke to customer services who confirmed the money would be back in my account in 3 days.I found the whole experience completely unsatisfactory, and the fact the tyres were ordered in and will no doubt have to be returned, which is neither great for either the environment or Halfords profit margins.Would I recommend this store - only if you have time to kill. I suggest this is partly a booking problem which is not clear on their website, however I found the manager?s attitude, way under the level I would expect. I will not be returning.

Great service by a smart, young, brown skinned guy. (Didnt ask for his name so thats the best description I have). I had a pierced tire and came by spontaneous. In less than 30 min he had it sorted, including paperwork and everything. That is what great service should look like! Chapeau, and thanks again for saving our day plans :)

And after "service" in Halfords York you will have, car mat's covered in grease and doors handles plus poured engine oil from a bucket. Definitely NOT recommending this garage. Pathetic
