Lovely place to look around, especially with small children. The staff in the cafe are always miserable though it really puts you off going. If you hate old people and children a garden centre cafe isn?t the job for you.

Slow slow service. 45 + minutes for a basic breakfast to come. Very overpriced for quality. Needs more staff and makeover.

Was in the cafe for lunch at 12pm. There were four staff behind the counter, one of which (Scottish chap with glasses) was training two staff on how to use the coffee machine. We ordered coffees and the lady that took our order asked for them to be made and the trainer was extremely rude to her as he turned and said 'I'm trying to do some training here'. Myself and my friend were then shot a look from him like we were an inconvenience to him and his day.Firstly, who carries out training at 12pm on a Friday afternoon and secondly, this can wait when someone orders a coffee.

Lots of leaks currently and wet items in the garden centre. Hot food is not served till 12 so lots of people didn't want to wait although signage says hot food from 11.30. waiter was getting lots of flak for this

Visited the garden centre and cafe today. On the positive side the plants and other products were really good and nicely displayed, I'm afraid that's where it ends.The cafe shelves and surroundings were dirty, if I hadn't already ordered lunch for myself and family I would've left, it looked like there had been a leak in the ceiling which had run down the walls and no sign of it been remedied. The staff in the cafe all looked like they wanted to be somewhere else, no pleasant customer service at all, one member of staff bellowed that someone's tea was ready to collect, and when it wasn't collected a different member of staff walked empty handed to the very last table (which I might add was directly opposite the men's toilets) to tell them their pot of tea was ready!!The food was poor, egg sandwiches were tasteless and no water cress in them also the bread wasn't fresh and it was only 12:30,the pots of tea were okay but that's all.The roof above the indoor plants etc near the tills looked ready for falling down, all in all not a good experience apart from the lovely plants.We won't be back, that cost me £35 what a waste of money.

Visited the cafe today and was left underwhelmed. The place was busy, granted, but tables were left uncleared and dirty. The tea was served almost cold, the bread in the sandwiches was stale and dry and to put icing on the cake, saw chef licking a spoon whilst cooking. That did not inspire me. All in all not the most pleasant experience.

Good selection of plants on a decent sized footprint. Right next to the York outer ring road and the park and ride. Big car park, cafe, mini Waitrose, lots of departments. Worth a visit.

Food was ok We sat outside in covered area - tables hadnt been cleared and floor area was strean with food and rubbish - containers on tables to catch water from leaking roof Whole shop area clearly in transition into winter mode but a lot of empty shelves Toilet door didnt have lock Car park very rough Whole place needs major makeover Worst Dobbies we have been too

Improved in many ways. Plants are well tended. Cafe still needs attention. An all day breakfast would help. The coffee is excellent. Staff are friendlier too.

Really big garden centre with everything you could want for the garden. Reason for the 3 stars is the cafe. The disabled toilet is in a weird area, almost part of the shop. The cafe was disappointing. On show were 3 sponge cakes and 1 scone, after visiting many garden centres we were disappointed. What we expected were sandwiches, different scones, a good selection of cakes, and just a better counter visually. We did not stay for that reason, the cafe did not look visually nice and selection was disappointing, considering the size of the centre.
