We drove up from Portsmouth on the 22nd of August, had dinner that evening, lunch on the 23rd and dinner the same evening especially for our wedding anniversary. As always the staff were friendly, polite and provide a wonderful service. The food is always excellent quality, the shops are always impeccably clean.A visit to york would be incomplete without a visit to Bettys.

We were told to visit this place as it is an iconic tea room. There are only four locations within 45 miles of York. We had to wait in line for about thirty minutes, but that was expected so no big deal. Once in, this was a very large place with plenty of seating. We ordered individual items but of course full tea was available with various sandwiches, sweets and other goodies. The staff was friendly and helpful. Items were available in a small shop in the way out as well.

Pretty good, great desserts and nice food, service and atmosphere was good too. Bit pricey for what it is portions wise but it was really nice.

This place is a must for an afternoon tea! Don't miss the mirror signed by pilots during WW2 just outside the toilets, it adds charm and history to this place.
The big plus is that -unlike many other places - didn't require a reservation!

Our family had a fantastic afternoon tea at Betty Tea Room in York! We queued for 15 minutes at the entrance?totally worth it. Ordered two afternoon tea sets, a burger, a rosite, and a salad. The portions were huge (way beyond expectations) but everything tasted amazing. The elegant decor and professional service (staff in suits even took photos for us!) made it a perfect experience. Highly recommended!

I was treated to afternoon tea for my birthday yesterday,the 16th August. From the first staff member welcoming us to the service staff,I noticed how absolutely professional they all were. Their uniforms were so clean and smart,I even noticed polished black shoes! The sandwiches ,scones and cakes were beautifully presented with the staff so knowledgeable about the food. My son is dairy intolerant ,and a tea was made for him to his requirements. There was such lovely music from the resident pianist who played Happy Birthday as I received a gorgeous little cake with a candle. The tearooms,stairs,and toilets were all absolutely immaculate. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

Always a queue outside, slow service inside, box ticked to say you've been, but underwhelming. Expected it to be better than it was, £30 for 1 round of sandwiches, a scone, 3 miniature cakes and a pot of tea. Wouldn't go back, overpriced and not very personal.
