I've not been to Bella Italia for quite a few years, because it always used to be mediocre at best. However, they seem to have very much upped their game. My son and I only had pizzas and drinks, but I was very impressed. Although not the cheapest pizzas in town, they were a good size with very generous, tasty toppings. The apple juice was fresh and my coffee was just as good if not better than many of the specialist coffee houses in York.\nThe highlight though was the excellent service from Jake, our waiter. He couldn't have been more helpful and he was delightful with my autistic son.\nHighly recommended.

The food was fine, but the service was terrible. We went on August 10,2025 about 7:00. The server took our order and he delivered the food. One of the orders was a pizza- it was not cut into pieces , a cheap pizza cutter was provided. I was unable to cut using the cutter- had to get one of our server?s coworkers to help. The pizza was very spicy and we had to flag down our server for water. Our server never checked on us. We ran out of water- had to get up to find our server to request more. He did not get it for me - he asked his coworker to do it. No apology for not doing his job. \n\nUnable to recommend this restaurant. We will go elsewhere in the future.

We visited Bella Italia today and were really disappointed with the service and how the current promotional offer was handled. I?ve been a regular customer at Bella Italia York for a long time and was excited about the new pasta promotion (£5 with a voucher code). When we arrived, I told the male waiter that we would be using the promotion. He said it was fine and we could provide the code later.\n\nWe also ordered a small kids? menu for the child with us. When the bill came, the promotional code hadn?t been applied. I reminded the same waiter, but he ignored us. If needed, this could be checked on the cameras. Eventually, I spoke to a female staff member who processed the promotion.\n\nHowever, we were also overcharged for the kids' meal. Normally, the kids? menu should be £1 from Sunday to Thursday, and the terms of the pasta offer clearly state that it can be used with the kids? bundle. Instead of charging for the small kids? menu, they charged us over £9 for a large one ? something we didn?t order. Unfortunately, we only noticed after we had left.\n\nThis was a frustrating and disappointing experience, especially since we?ve been loyal customers. Due to the poor service and being overcharged, we won?t be returning.

Bruschetta \nCold, no garlic taste, didn?t feel Italian. No care or dining experience, felt like fast food.\n\nToilets no urinals out of order. Garden out of order. Ceaser salad no croutons \nChicken poor. Salad looked unappealing. Music too loud and did not give off a meditation or relaxed vibe. Probably suited the young staff that worked there. No young people eating in there.\nPasta Al fungi, pasta slightly over done but tasted nice, not many mushrooms and not much chicken at all 22/06/2025\n\nSpoke to Manager, tried to defend everything, he said the music is too loud but he is not allowed to turn music down. \nShowed manager this text for his view, he seemed ok with it all.\nManager had jeans T shirt a chain hanging down with keys on and a bookies pencil behind his ear WTAF £75 !!!!!

Every time we visit york we always go here but unfortunately it's gone seriously down hill. Visited Fri for early evening dinner and used the £5 pasta offer not sure if its same pot of bolognese sauce for offers and normal dinner dish but it was awful I could tell as soon as they put my dish down (which was literally thrown on the table) shocking hospitality anyway the pasta was slimey and the bolognese was tasteless. I had bruchetta to start and the bread was cold and rock hard I'm no expert but I've had a lot of tomato bruchetta dishes and it's meant to be warm bread. Never again.

The food was amazing, full of flavour and looked delicious. Although it was quiet in the restaurant the atmosphere was lovely. And ash, our server was attentive and helpful when giving recommendations

The food was delicious and served promptly, which was a positive experience. However, the service was disappointing. The staff seemed disinterested and were consistently rude, even ignoring customers who were speaking directly to them. This lack of attention and politeness really detracted from what could have been an enjoyable visit. I hope the restaurant addresses the issue with staff training, as the food quality was great, but the service needs significant improvement.

My boy?s loved their food as much as we loved our?s .My brownie was brilliant and my husband loved his food aswell. The staff was lovely and kind and for those reasons I declair a 5 ? review.

Food was very standard. Pasta under cooked. Ham in carbonara very fatty, meat balls lacking meatiness and flavour. Not authentic Italian Service was excellent and can?t fault that, a shame the food doesn?t match.
