There is nothing to be said that can detract from the excellent service at this community run shop, staffed solely by volunteers, or the lovely local produce available to buy there.Well done to everyone involved, what an achievement, especially in the last 12 months!

Amazing volunteers who keep the village shop well stocked and open 7 days a week. And the Post Office is a godsend open 6 days at week. Fantastic community effort.

Very good for a local shop

Nice little cycle friendly place. Good produce, cakes and sandwiches were great. Decent prices and a table to sit and eat them.

Not sure what the other guy who wrote a review is on (crack?). I am not a local but regularly visit this village shop and it is run by a volunteer team who are simply wonderful. Very friendly and welcoming bunch, and always accommodating. Sometimes takes longer than tescos but I find that adds to the charm.

Presumably unless you're a local, don't bother.
I stopped here for a bottle of water on a 50 mile bike ride. It was midday on a Sunday, the lights were on, and the door was ajar. By all reasonable measurements, the place was open.
I was greeted (or, more accurately, I wasn't greeted) by the most miserable, stern-faced, rude and unpleasant couple I've ever met; who angrily informed me that "the shop was closed and I'd have to wait". Were in not for the fact that I was on the return leg of cycling to York and back from the Moors, and in need of hydration, I'd have left there and then.
I waited several minutes while the elderly inbreds continued to fumble their arthritic, webbed hands around the till and some pieces of paper, before finally accepting my 70 pence for a bottle of water without even saying thanks.
Next time I'll plan my journey to remove the necessity for a stop in Huby. It always was a bit of a strange place!
