Had an experience at the Barns. The farm and barns are immaculate and appointed with everything you would need for a holiday in the area. Everyone concerned we're so friendly and accommodating to us. The experience was nothing of their doing and I want to show my support to them and everyone in the area during the moor fire. We arrived the day before the flare up that brought the fire to within 5m of the farm wall before heading towards Whitby. Everyone worked throughout the day and night to get it under control without support from outside the area until it was nearly too late. I'm in awe of them fighting for what they own and livelihoods. The biggest disgrace is that on arrival back home it hadn't even made the news. You deserve better recognition, farmers, fire fighters and all involved.

Supreme quality from start to finish!! This place is soo beautiful? the views just everything. Everything and so much more we expected.. the rooms are just stunning couldn?t rate this place enough. 1000% will be booking another weekend stay????

We had a great week in Cherry Cottage at the end of August. The cottage itself was just fine for what we wanted being out in the country but still within easy reach of the facilities of Whitby and handy for the other attractions around the local area. We had two boys (4 & 6) with us for some of the time and they loved going around to see the cows and the sheep out on the moor. They spent quite a bit of time playing on the ride-on toy tractors etc that are housed in the stables right next to the cottages.

This is a stunning place. A great place to explore the North Yorkshire coastline, lovely accommodation and breathtaking walks, highly recommend.

Great cottage all 3 bedrooms had ensuit good location easy to get to Whitby, Robinhoods bay and Scarborough. Would stay here againe

The accommodation at Holpen Barns is on a working farm with cattle, approached by its own private drive off the main road between Whitby and Scarborough. We stayed in Pear Cottage, which is equipped with everything you might need for your stay. We found some provisions in the kitchen and a home made chocolate cake to welcome us. There are four cottages differing in layout and size (we saw inside them all) but all equipped to the same high standard. Bath robes and slippers are provided along with bed linen and towels, tea towels and dish cloths (although there?s a dishwasher too). The cottage looks down the valley to Robin Hoods Bay and the sea is in sight. The place is peaceful, being set well back from the main road, and we woke to the song of the birds. The price includes all utilities for heating, lighting and cooking.
