Whitby has many very good estate agents and having bought and sold property in and around Whitby for over 30 years we've used them all. Henderson's , Graham Henderson and Nick Henderson especially whilst initially all charm, very quickly resort to bullying tactics against their customer. They'll do anything to push a sale through regardless of monetary loss and stresses created for the seller. We challenged them constantly about who exactly was the client and who would be paying the bill!?!
So bad was their service we did dispute the bill. It took them 2 years, with them using more bullying tactics (unlawful threats from debt collectors and down right lies) before an agreement was reached and they received a final settlement from us. A settlement figure which I might add, was less than we had always thought appropriate to pay and, less still further considering the fees they would have had to pay. All they had to do to avoid all of that was reply to our emails when we advised them the property had sold.
As said Whitby has many very good estate agents, Hendersons isn't one of them!
Avoid!!
Lastly , I'm expecting this review to be discredited, as another example of their approach to customer care.

Very disappointed. customer service extremely poor.
Initially I contacted Hendersons via email to view a property. Having no response I rang this estate agent to arrange a viewing on this property and another.
The advisor said she would contact the vendors to arrange relevant viewings, surprise surprise no contact even a courtesy call from this estate agents!
To add to insult, I see this morning that one of these properties as been reduced. It's not a surprise the property isn't sold when Hendersons are not sorting out viewings. Shame on them.

I would 100% recommend Hendersons to anyone to buy/sell their house. I had a friendly service from start to finish from Nick, Karin, Graham and all the team. The initial meeting, photos & listing was quick and simple and all viewings were accompanied at times to suit potential purchasers. As with most house sales there were hiccups along the way with the ongoing chain (not Hendersons fault) but Graham worked relentlessly to liaise with the buyers, the other agents and the solicitors. I was kept in the loop throughout the process and then had full support when the situation changed. I found contact easy, all emails answered, the phone was answered every time I called and if one of the girls wasn't available at the time the others were able to help which shows that the team all worked well together to support me as a client. If someone said they would phone back they did so I could not have asked for more. If you want a friendly, professional service to buy/sell/let or rent then use Hendersons!

Excellent staff, all friendly, approachable and professional. Loved the way they marketed my property, showing it to its full advantage with lovely photos. Sold very quickly I would highly recommend Hendersons!

Being a novice buyer, unfamiliar with the process, I reached out via email to inquire about a listing. Unfortunately, I received an unhelpful response stating all necessary information was on the listing, neglecting my specific questions. In a subsequent phone call, I encountered rudeness and laughter when asking about my concerns. These experiences have shaken my confidence in the house buying process, and I cannot recommend Hendersons based on my interactions.

I had the best experience of renting a property in Whitby with Hendersons. I remember Claire through emails but generally the staff has been amazing and very helpful. They reply back quick and sort everything out easily. I would 100% recommend.

Hendersons Estate Agents were a sensible choice for me. I checked out all of their local rivals before choosing them. Their experience in the business really showed in accurate valuing, supervising viewings and coordinating outside agencies such as the EPC agency and the purchaser?s surveyors.Advertising was done accurately, efficiently and promptly. Communications were clear throughout.I?m pleased with the service I received from Hendersons and recommend them unreservedly.

If you even think for one minuet an estate agent's job is to just get viewers and negotiate prices think again. I hadn't moved for 15 years so I had forgotten how much is involved. Hendersons are worth their weight in gold I had, a let's say, a challenging chain which took over 6 months to complete, every step of the way Hendersons battled against each obstacle as it arose and there were tears, stress and problems galore. I have to give a special shout out to Graham Henderson which I have to say without his help and keeping abreast of everything for all those months my move would not have happened. Thank you Graham.Not forgetting the ladies in the office on the front line who were helpful and friendly throughout the whole process.
