A lovely overnight dinner bed and breakfast stay at this lovely traditional pub.
Room was clean and tidy with a comfy bed and nice bathroom. We had dinner here and the food was really honest, well cooked and nice and fresh. Service with a smile and a nice selection of wines and local beer.
Breakfast in the morning was really nice as well.
The pub is set in a lovely little village with easy access to the local area.
Anyone in the area really must visit. You'll not be disappointed.

Called in on a whim for Sunday Lunch as we had seen it advertised at the Blacksmiths Arms, Lastingham. It is owned by the same people and it shows.
The food was excellent and drinks prices fair.

Bern here twice now, love the fire, but need more comfortable furniture. The pub is set out as more of a restaurant pub than a drinking pub despite its location at the foot of Blencathra. A few more comfier chairs would be really appreciated after a long walk.
Ate here the first time and the food was really tasty so would recommend that for sure, seems to be busy around food times but pretty quiet in between.

Stopped off for a late Sunday lunch. Lovely cosy pub with a roaring fire. Smart, sociable, thoroughly engaging barman couldn't have been more helpful. Excellent staff and friendly clientele. Star of the show was the homemade steak pie. Vegetables cooked to perfection. Delicious lemon tart and chocolate mousse. Won't hesitate to return.

An absolutely delicious slice of steak and ale pie with very moorish chips. Such a lovely place - really friendly, lucky Ampleforth. If we lived here this would be a regular weekly treat.
