Well. Firstly the wait to be seen was a bit strange as the bar just seemed a bit awkward and I waited 20min for someone to come see to me.
Then entering the room it was the strangest feeling as the floor wasn't flat and both main room and bathroom was on an wonk. I think it might be a structural issue.
Then there was the shouting outside my window with someone going Nutts with another person about ducks hahaha.
Bed sheets were dirty with multiple marks all over the sheets and pillow
Breakfast was cheap though as it's spoons and it wasn't that bad actually

The Wetherspoons as a pub was a spoons - needs a bit of a fix up - well major fix up just dark and dim and dated.
The Wetherspoons as a hotel- absolutely ATROCIOUS! We stayed in room 3. Online it?s advertised as disabled friendly and family friendly. Yes there is a lift however it only provides access to 2 rooms. When we checked in we were told to take the baby in the pram around the back and up the lift it was a lot easier to access the room, what they didn?t say was you have to take the lift up to floor 2 to then carry the pram down the stairs to floor 1 while also trying to navigate the doors and the floor that?s on a bit of a slope. We bought our own travel cot however the baby couldn?t sleep in it because the floor is so uneven he kept rolling to the edges of the cot. So he ended up in the exceptionally uncomfortable bed with us which made for a delightful sleep for us all. The bathroom in the room was awful. It?s all so dated and tired! We would have been better off sleeping in the ladies toilets of the pub! They were a lot nicer and the floor didn?t dip and slope!
We then discovered that instead of sending us round the back of the hotel we simply could have walked up flight of stairs straight into the room ????? then just to make the stay even more exciting something was scratching at the walls this morning ?
Online it says there is no car park when actually there is ?????

Food not the best, staff not the best either
Ordered chicken jalfrezzi it was a cold block of rice. Took it back and staff were very off hand and didn't apologize. Said they would refund the cost of the meal but after 13days this refund has still not appeared on my bank account.
Usually pleased with Wetherspoons but Thirsk one is the worst.

Having arrived today we ordered food and asked that the table be wiped as it was sticky.with food residue. This was not done. The waitress brought our food which.the pizza was soggy and tasteless. We asked if the table could be wiped she.rolled her eyes and pushed the food residue on to the.floor. empty tables behind us.had drinks left in the gllasses on and sauce bottles which attracted flies. Whilst I appreciate it was hot multiply.flies were landing on our.food and on the tables adjacent to.ours where the customers left most of.their.food too.due.to.the.flies. most unpleasant staff. Would not recommend

Food was cold, service was poor and the management staff are very rude. 0/5 would not recommend. Really ruined our visit to a lovely town.

First time staying in a Weatherspoons hotel, and it was definitely better than I expected. Room 2 is on the front of the hotel and is a very large room. There is plenty of hanging space, coffees, and shower gel. It was really clean and loved the pictures in the room, painted by local school children. Will definitely be returning

Was slightly worried about our stay here having read a couple of negative reviews, however we thought the hotel was excellent value for money and in a great location with free parking behind if space. Yes the room and especially the bathroom are very dated and the view from our room 6 was of rooftops and pigeons. That said, it was very clean, comfy bed, lovely towels, free tea, coffee, biscuits and bottles of water. Even a fan that we used as room was very warm. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Biggest disappointment was the eggs benedict for breakfast, the egg yolks were so over cooked, more like hard boiled. Would stay again if in the area.
