First visit to this garden centre and we arrived late afternoon desperate for a coffee & cake. The cafe was still open & we got coffees, a delicious carrot cake & a piece of brown & blonde brownie. Staff were lovely & a little error on our order was swiftly & generously resolved by Leo. All the staff we met in cafe were lovely. Unfortunately we didn't leave long enough to thoroughly explore all garden centre but I know my friend bobbed back following day, she said to buy some garden furniture she had seen, but I reckon it was for another slice of carrot cake. We had a puppy with us and were very grateful dogs are allowed in garden centre & on patio area of cafe.

Poor new menu, all the most popular items have been removed sadly and portion sizes reduced! No prawns or egg mayonnaise, no chips with salad and less ham. Shame after coming here since cafe first opened and always returned almost weekly for one prawn and one ham salad which both came with chips on a large plate. Certainly gone downhill in the last few months- why?

Visited with 2 friends for lunch and was not disappointed with the new menu! Old faithful coronation chicken sandwich was still available as were gluten free options. Having been coming for years it was nice to see a bit of a change with the menu but still keeping the same high quality Will definitely be back :)

I have frequented this Garden Centre for years and always found the food okay. I came the other week and the new sandwiches were great, so much flavour! It's nice to see a bit of change on the menu. I always got the same thing before but I am looking forward to coming back and trying something new again!

Price of 2 scones to take away was £3.10 each in a bag with no butter included - same price as eat in. That makes them more expensive than Betty's fat rascals to buy. Not even the best scones by far. Shan't be returning.

If you?re vegan then don?t bother. You will be charged more money to eat in the restaurant than non vegans. We usually spend well over £100 each visit and have probably spent thousands over the years. We will never come back to this garden centre.

Oh dear, where have the wonderful scones gone. They are now a quarter of the size that they used to be, the size has decreased but the price has risen. Such a shame. I don't mind paying good money for quality products, please bring the best scones in Yorkshire back.

I have been coming here for years as its a half way point for meeting friends. Always been lovely food, but this time noticed prices had shot up. I ordered a sandwich which was terrible the cheapest thinnest bread I've ever seen, it used to come in lovely bread with a nice salad and crisps, not anymore! My friends had a ciabatta and it wasn't a ciabatta. What a shame as it was always such good quality food. We wont be returning anymore. We were talking to another couple of tables who said exactly the same thing.

Went with family, adults and children. First time visit. Staff friendly and they had a reduced menu on due to staffing levels. Children's ham sandwiches looked tasty , made with proper ham . Homemade soup was lovely. Will be back

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Lady with short dark hair and glasses, should not be near customers as they are obviously such a nuisance to her. She was rude, aggressive and made me feel so uncomfortable. Shame as I had an armful of clothes I was about to purchase. Put them all down and I've just ordered them online instead. Complained to the customer service desk at the garden centre and they were so apologetic and explained that Edinburgh Woollen Mill is separate to their garden centre. They also let me know this is the fourth complaint against this woman!!! Really hope the manager sees this and teaches that vile woman some basic manners.

Always worth a visit for cake when you've finished shopping. Good selection of freshly baked cakes including ones suitable for the grandkids. Never been disappointed.

Can?t fault the service or quality of food, which was fantastic. Very clean and nice environment. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

I've previously visited the cafe for coffee and cake, but this time a whole group of us wanted to meet, for a meal, and we are coming from some distance to convene there. I wanted to reserve a table - the group haven't seen each other for a long time, and how dire if we arrived and had to sit scattered about. The man I spoke to was unfriendly and unco-operative. Impossible to book. We don't do that. Plenty of room and so on. I explained why I was asking, but he really didn't care. So as we couldn't guarantee we could all sit together, the cafe has lost 12 customers who would have bought lunch, and no doubt shopped at the Garden Centre before and after. Another garden centre was superb, and booked a table for us immediately, in a very friendly manner. What a shame.

This is such an easy place for lunch, and one of our 'go to' favourites. The salads are wonderful, large platefuls of salad, coleslaw, chips and your choice of protein, Highly recommend the ham, and also the coronation chicken, It's always busy which is a testament to how good it is.
