Handy cafe for a coffee before starting on food shop. Not much of a que at tills despite carpark being manic. Went for a freezer shop, distracted by other bargains but generally did ok for a supermarket I don't normally use. Frozen wild salmon a bargain on offer and didn't taste too bad.

Appalling customer service with a very condescending tall blonde haired duty manager who always takes the side of his staff no matter how appallingly rude or unprofessional they have been. Tourist trap, avoid at all costs and go to Lidl instead ?

In my humble opinion this store is on the way down. Although the premises had had a recent revamp it all seems a bit "tired". The introduction of canned music over the PA system and the closure of the deli section heralded a slipping. This may be due to incursions of the discount stores which are nearby. Many regular items I shop for are randomly out of stock or even more maddening, moved aisle. The staff are all great and very positive to the customers as are the home delivery drivers which leads me to think the problems stem from further up the management chain. As previously stated, these are my opinions which are based on personal observations and experiences rather than raw facts.

This is a thank you to a tesco employee, I believe her name is Jenny. March of 2022 my husband and I visited Thirsk to see the James Herriot museum. ( we are from the US). After walking from the train station were wandering around trying to find our way to our hotel, Jenny happened up to us and helped give us directions .Her kindness didn?t stop there. After seeing the museum, we arrived back at our hotel to a huge bag of gifts from Jenny. Biscuits, books, socks, gifts for the kitchen, etc. I am wearing the socks she gave me as I write this. I wasn?t able to find her to tell her thanks but I will try to do so here. That single act of kindness inspires me to pass it on, and to be a better person . I hope she knows that she has touched someone?s heart thousands of miles away. Thank you Jenny, and God Bless you.
