I was out on a motorbike ride with friends, and when stopping in here just for ? it was nice inside, I didn't stop long enough to order any food, but it had lovely seating area at the back of the pub

Steak and ale pie was absolutely gorgeous!! Proper home made chips too, and plenty of them. Food was beautiful and service was great! We will be back!

Just had 3 nights at the Maypole for my 60th couldn?t fault it great location brilliant food amazing staff the room was fantastic and you are made to feel like a local in the pub from the moment you arrive would recommend a visit to anyone will definitely be going back

Our room was fairly spacious but it was supposed to be a superior double, I wouldn?t have wanted to do basic! Housekeeping could be better as the room hadn?t been vacuumed. Bathroom was nice and clean but no shower gels, only miniature soap, maybe this was an oversight by housekeepers. The bed was comfy with good bedding. Our room was at the front facing the main road and we were disturbed by wagons passing the Inn at speed for much of the early hours onwards. Food at night was ok. My husband?s steak was good and my steak pie was ok but the pastry had clearly been in the microwave so soggy and the underneath wasn?t cooked, such a shame as it could have been really good. Breakfast was excellent. Gill and Leslie were lovely and the blonde lady who served us in the morning was really good. Thank you.

Not exactly service with a smile - lady behind the bar not overly welcoming You could tell she was coming to the end of her shift.
Had more of my drink on the beer mat than in the glass!

Absolutely shocking experience. Came in for a pint after a long walk, and felt time stand still and clocks stop ticking once we walked through the door. The Karen at the bar greeted us by telling us that she was in fact NOT ok, most likely because we had dared to enter the premises. We were told we could not have food, but she supposed we could have a drink but made us wait 20 minutes to get served. Another couple arrived after us, were served before us, and when they asked if they could order food they were told this was fine. Im not sure if they were having a bad day, or if they're like this all the time, but the WiFi title claiming them 'the best bar in the world' felt worlds away from the experience we just had. It certainly didn't seem busy in there, so we feel the slow and reluctant service was entirely for our enjoyment. We'll spend our money elsewhere.

Stayed here for a week on business, nice clean rooms but a bit noisy if staying on the front.
Lovely food, super quick and piping hot.

We called for food on our way back from the lakes. I was worried that it might be a pub for locals but the staff and other patrons were so welcoming and friendly. We both ate and the food was delicious. I would definitely call again.

Great place to stay overnight, good spacious rooms and really good value as includes breakfast. Checking in was quick but morning staff during breakfast could be a bit more polite. We sat (3 people) for a good 25 minutes waiting for staff so we can ask for breakfast and 3 different staff walking in and out of kitchen each time, no one saying anything as if we did not exist sat in a table and there was no one else in there apart from us. I finally asked a young girl who was lovely, for breakfast and to be fair to them served us good breakfast. Maybe just could work on the hospitality part. Other than that, all was good.
