Hotel itself was good, but the rooms need modernisation. Meanwhile, in the leisure facility there were some pretty disgusting practices by some of its full time members from nearby Bradford & Keighley - which included getting straight into the jacuzzi from the sauna without showering etc, despite the obvious signs asking people not to do this. Overall, I enjoyed my stay though.Rooms: Rooms, although clean are looking tired & dated.

Spent a lovely weekend here. The hotel also had a coach trip one anniversary and a birthday during our stay. We took our granddaughter for the first time, she loved every minute of it. Would of liked a towel rail or radiator to dry our swimwear in our room apart from this everything great.

We stayed here while on a coach trip. Rooms were pleasant, towels changed once during our 4 night stay. Beds were tidied each day. The room was clean, slightly dusty in places (bathroom door frames). Refreshments topped up each day. The breakfast and evening meals were incredible! 3 courses each night were spot on and such ample portions. On our last evening we asked the staff to pop out to thank them and we?re surprised at the age for the chef, such a young lad to be turning out food of such high quality! The bar was always staffed and the tea and coffee downstairs was really welcome. Thank you ?

Another example where the reviews are so different than the reality. Hotel very old, without any maintenance work done in years and the worst part, without any care about the customer experience. Please, look how was the room when we arrived to the hotel for a romantic weekend. When we discovered the room, we tried to cancel the second night, but 18 hours later we are still waiting the confirmation of the ?management? to get our money back.A hotel to avoid no matter what.

We stayed here for a weekend with our dogs. There is a one off fee of £30 for pets for the stay.Location is perfect, lovely canal right at the back of the hotel that is an easy 30 minutes to Skipton. If you haven't been Skipton is a great place with more pubs and restaurants than you could imagine. On a late afternoon at least, the pubs catered for a lively yet older bunch which was great. If you walk along the canal the other way for 5 minutes there is a Vintage Inn pub that is dog friendly and does food, we booked on Friday but there was no need, but at least with the app we both got a free pint.Plenty of free parking at the front and friendly staff. We were put in a dog friendly family room which was huge. Plenty of tea and coffee, large TV, good WIFI and an iron. The bed was comfortable and had clean white bedding. We were happy with the cleanliness of the room but it was by no means spotless. The bathroom was very dated, i'm guessing 1990s but everything worked and the shower was good. Towels and soap provided. The room was heated by a slighty noisy blown air type heater but also had a plug in oil radiator. The hotel has a bar which is nice enough, prices seemed reasonable with two medium red wines for £10. We missed out on the Friday night offer of 2 steaks and a bottle of red for £45, if we went again we would book this.Breakfast was buffet and was very nice with no complaints, if you have a pet you can eat in the bar as dogs are not allowed in the restaurant area,On a personal note it was a little expensive for us so would also look at other options the next time we visit Skipton, this with the dated interior is why I have given 4 stars and not 5.

Great hotel, great staff and the food is excellent ?? the doors could do with opening both ways as it can be fiddly going through them with a number of cases if like me you carry your wife's case as well as your own. Otherwise a superb place to stay when visiting Skipton.

Beautiful location on the canal. The hotel is very dated and seems to be stuck in a time warp. There are numerous photos of Coronation Street actors and Tour de France imaged everywhere. We were on the 3rd floor where you had to go through numerous double doors to get to the room. In the corridor you passed the restaurant kitchen which stunk of stale fat, like an old deep fat fryer. It made us gag.We ate in the restaurant and the food is very overpriced for what it is. You pay for the views which are stunning. The maitre'd and waiters were strange, not friendly or welcoming and made you feel uneasy. Despite only 4 couples eating the service was slow and nothing special. We returned from Skipton Town Centre which is a 25 minute walk down the canal at about 10.30pm. A singer was just finishing his act in the bar area. The room had a strange smell and had signs everywhere saying the smoke alarm may go off if you have a steamy shower. The bed was small and uncomfortable. An okay hotel at best.

The room was very disappointing for what we paid, very basic decor, no comfy chairs just dining room type, very dull and dated bathroom, awful Velux window that had to be slammed so hard to shut, we worried it would break, very noisy when open because of traffic, needed open during the day for some air. We were in 405. The bar food was fantastic and so was the breakfast, staff all lovely, pool was nice but small, filled up with kids later in the day because open to the public, no room to actually swim, we won't be going back.

We stayed here for a couple of nights for a family wedding, our rooms were very clean, nothing was too much bother for the staff, breakfast in the morning was fantastic, and the meals in the evening were very good, nice view of the canal and nice walks along the canal, just a bit too far to walk into Skipton.

Tonight's visit was our 2nd chance for the Bar & Grill. Me and the wife dined here 3 weeks ago and decided to take the youngest daughter and boyfriend here tonight to see if things had improved. Er No was the answer. Having been shown to our table we waited 25 minutes before I went back to the lady at the entrance to ask if we were ever going to be asked if we wanted a drink. Eventually drinks arrived just as starters arrived. Only 4 starters and they got that wrong, they brought my wife pate instead of calamari. Once things were sorted the starters were actually very nice. Mains arrived the sirloins. I had to send mine back as I asked for medium and it was still bleeding. I also had to ask where my wife's chips were and the plate looked empty. How can you forget to put a stainless steel bowl of chips on a plate?. The steaks were nothing to right home about. If I can add a photo I will do of my wife's sirloin. more fat and grissle than meat. I throughout the meal had to keep going to the bar to get drinks. Having had enough I complained. I was told the kitchen staff were agency and they were short of other staff. Er sorry but not my problem as a paying customer. We will not be going back ever again. Very very poor. No customer service or attention. Even in the bar the tables were still full of empty mucky glasses that were there prior to us going into the restaurant.

Excellent hotel staff and food stayed for 4 nights on Coach trip in September would definitely recommend, everyone very helpful, very clean and food exceptional with plenty of choices, there is sufficient parking for everyone and it has a swimming pool

Booked with Hotel for 3 night stay . Arrived at midday and tried to book evening meal but was told that due to illness with chef and two other staff members he could not provide grill or resturant for the duration of our stay . Unless already booked for evening meal or in a coach party . Room was a low canal view and was ok but bathroom and toilet needed updating as toilet did not flush properly . Had evening meals at both Skipton centre and the pub Bay horse down the canal the centre costing £14 return by Taxi . Staff looked fed up but the stay was enjoyable but could have been a better experience .

A very nice hotel, with excellent staff. All who were helpful and friendly. The rooms overlooking the canal are by their very nature quieter although cost more. We eat in the restaurant every evening and found it quite satisfactory.

Just back from another one night stay here. We have stayed several times and always enjoy it. Noticed new furniture in the lounge area which looked nice. Our rooms were lovely although actually too warm for us this time. A fridge and or bottled water would be a good improvement in the rooms. Leisure facilities are a little outdated but fit for purpose. Corridors are a little old fashioned too. The evening meal menu has a good choice and we all enjoyed our meals although dessert portions were a little bit small. Breakfast has everything you'd expect including jam and butter all self service despite what other reviews say and no I've no reason to lie. Staff were pleasant and helpful and went out of their way to get a toy back to us our granddaughter had left in the lounge. My only annoyance is our struggle to get a canal side room despite being such a regular customer. There are views of the hills on both sides but the road side can be noisy especially if you want to open a window. We will come stay again.

I stayed here for 6 nights with a walking group of 15 Germans. My room was clean and spacious. An excellent full English breakfast and a Continental breakfast including croissants, pastries, joghurt, muesli, cereal and fresh fruit was on offer as a buffet. The evening meal was delicious with a wide, well-presented choice including a vegetarian option. The staff were friendly and helpful. A special thankyou to Monica, Sharon, Anita and the young men at reception for their kindness. The hotel is ideally situated to explore the Yorkshire Dales and a pleasant 20 minute walk leads along the canal to the pretty little town of Skipton.
