My husband and I visited and bought 2 bottles of amazing wine as suggested by our taste for full bodied red wine. We left 40 minutes later after a very warm and welcoming conversation, I cannot believe that this Happy, interesting and well informed woman could be rude to anyone, we are all human and maybe it was a a very busy day.

Assume the assistant was having the worst day of her life given her absolute disdain for me and other customers. Luckily, the wine was 10/10

Asked for recommendations, ended up with exactly what I said I didn't like and spoken to with practical distain.Very odd. May have just been a bad day.

My wife and I called into this shop this morning. We were patronised by one of the rudest shop owners we have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Avoid avoid avoid

I just popped in to the wine shop for some Father?s Day gin! When I asked if they had the brand I was looking for I honestly didn?t expect to be talked to so rudely!Having bought a holiday cottage last year in the Yorkshire Dales I was hoping to support local businesses. However, I will definitely not be supporting this one!

It was one of those days: busy, tiring and something was always going to slip my mind. In this case, it was a bottle of wine to go with dinner on my husband's birthday. Oops. But then I remembered Grassington had a wine shop, and I could make a diversion on my way home. I just had to hope that they had more than cheap pinot grigio to offer.I was not disappointed. Jackie, the owner, was behind the counter and kindly helped me find the perfect bottle. So far, so much to be expected, you might think, but this was no ordinary challenge. Given my husband no longer gets on with red wine, the challenge was to find a full-bodied white that would go well with roast rib of beef, which was his requested meal.In the end, I came away with two. One was a white rioja that we have yet to drink, the other a white made from a red grape that we drank that evening - I no longer have the bottle, but the label is distinctive in looking like it has an impressionistic overdressed pole dancer on it, and Jackie will help you locate the right wine, I'm sure!It turns out that Jackie has a lot of wine knowledge, and I will doubtless be returning to her lovely shop in future to pick her brains and find wine for any number of occasions. She also carries a range of craft beers, including one gluten free from Wold Top, and is more than willing to find new lines that will meet her customers' needs. As I was on the point of leaving, some other customers came in who looked in and left in short order, without even acknowledging Jackie's greeting. Probably looking for a £5 bottle of pinot grigio. If that's the level you want, pop to the Spar a couple of doors down and good luck to you. I spent £27 on a couple of bottles, but for that I got expert advice and the confidence that we were in for something that would really work. Jackie has picked all the wines herself, and what you're buying is her knowledge and experience in every bottle on her shelves. It's worth every penny.P.S. I do hope I've got the correct spelling of Jackie's name - happy to edit if not - but this shop is a little gem and I wanted to review asap so more people can appreciate it :)
