We stayed one night. Luckily we were able to park on the street infront of the hotel & the reception welcome wasn?t too bad! we had booked a standard double which we kept, (but were offered a sea view for an extra £30 if we wanted it). We also had to pay a security deposit of £50 on arrival which is refunded following the stay. The room was on the second floor and quite a distance to walk from the lift on a carpet with a pattern so wavy we almost felt sea sick by the time we got there!! As other reviews have mentioned our room was also a little dated, although the bed was very comfortable & bed linen fine.
The bathroom had a couple of issues which we shared with reception before we went out for dinner : the toilet seat was very loose & wobbled from side to side, which exposed foul unclean areas.
All in all an ok place for a 1 night stay, but unfortunately we wouldn?t consider recommending or returning in future.

Stayed here 3 nights bb nice large sea view room 2nd floor clean & tidy checkin was straightforward only complaint we have was the buffet breakfast there was no cups for hot drinks, the coffee machine was out of order, the water for tea making was lukewarm , one cold piece of bacon one uninviting fried egg no bread ,butter etc & when we asked for something the waitress got grumpy not what you expect when you?re a paying guest

Gym was claustrophobic, dark, dingy and no music.
Spa dark and dated. Sauna, steam room, ice room good, clean, functional but not very aesthetic.
Room was clean and tidy but very run down. No dust or smudges on mirrors, been thoroughly cleaned but in serious need of a revamp. Needs new carpets, curtains and pillows, whole room needs a lick of paint. Black mould on bathroom ceiling been painted over but not treated.
Restaurant service was abysmal, entertainingly poor. Food wasn?t great, was very average and overpriced. £20 for a cold salad with no dressing.
Breakfast was better, food was cooked well, hot and self service so we didn?t have to sit there for 3 hours waiting to be served. Table next to us waited over an hour for their starters, table opposite waited an hour for 2 cocktails.
Only 10-12 tables in restaurant, 5 waiters but still no one serving tables.
No windows in the restaurant, spa, swimming pool or gym.
Had to pay £10 to park in the car park even though advertised as free parking. Also no parking spots as all full from staff parking.
No dressing downs or slippers in room, had been advertised as having them free for use.
Had to pay £50 on arrival for a ?deposit? that was not advertised anywhere on the website or booking site. Took 5 working days for this to be refunded after the stay.
Advertised as room with a sea view but if you see the images below? only view was fire escape to the right and a dirty street to the left.
Rooms: Run down. Threadbare carpets, outdated furniture & furnishings, clean bedding, mould in bathrooms
Safety: No concerns
Food and drinks: Coffee from the bar was very good. Pizza and sandwiches from the bar tasted good but overpriced. Restaurant food abysmal
Noteworthy details: Wouldn?t recommend, don?t waste your money.

Sea facing view was really hot, fortunately we could open the sash window wide to let air in. Bathroom was modern. The room itself had plenty of storage space.
Walkability: Hotel is right on the esplanade which has grest views and in an easy walk.

We have stayed many times pre covid. Was a quality hotel.
This hotel has gone rapidly downhill since Compass took over.
Shabby room, carpet lifting, public areas looking tired, paint peeling.
No draught beer for the four days we stayed (this is a four star hotel!!??)
Staff polite but apolgising for hotel shortcomings.
Super hotel around corner at a similar price!

Just returned from 3 night stay......AVOID, extremely disappointing. Booked extra for parking at the back of the hotel, pot luck if you got a spot, staff parking in the bays, thus not enough space for guests.
The room originally booked was under maintenance, upgraded us to another room, extremely disappointing, tired furniture in need of major revamp. Curtains and pelmets mix match of colours. Only 2 tissues and sanitary bags in the holders at any one time. Shower mat used on first day and not replaced. Used glasses from the bar left in our room and not taken away. Housekeeping cloths left in our room.
Fridge in the room but no complimentary water and none available to purchase at the bar - not good for people who take medication.
Ashtrays spilling over in the front outside seating.
Breakfast - only one coffee machine working, hot buffet was cold, tables in breakfast room poor quality and sticky. Fruit juices rank.
Only 1 left working.
If entering the hotel from the car park at the rear, good luck especially if mobility issues - door sticks and a struggle to get through even work if you have luggage then straight into steps.
Such a shame because if managed correctly would be a lovely hotel.

AVOID!!!!
By far the worst hotel/spa we have ever stayed in,the condition of the hotel is disgusting,we booked a weekend and checked out a day early and got an air bnb down the road! The hotel is out dated and there's a smell of faeces in the bedroom smelled like someone had just used the toilet but it didn't go away,i would sujest getting a plumber!! the heat was unbearable we had to keep both windows fully open, the sound from other rooms plus people walking past the room made for a rubbish nights sleep,we tried to over look the above issues by using the spa facilities and this didn't help there was mould etc on the spa the chlorine burned my eyes and the whole place was just grotty, given the choice of sleeping on the streets in a tent or using this hotel I'd take the streets. Two positives... the lasses on the front reception were lovely and the bed was comfy but by heck!!! Employ some good cleaners and maybe get the decorators in... horrible experience... awaiting refund from booking. Com 250 + quid 2 nights for a pool in a mouldy cellar and some outdated gym equipment ,GRIM...
Rooms: Horrible and out dated
Nearby activities: Walking...
Walkability: 6Nit good if you don't like walking
Food and drinks: Overpriced
Noteworthy details: Never again.

According to our Yorkshire friends, this was the 'poshest hotel in Scarborough' and we found a good deal thanks to Agoda. The hotel was perfectly situated above the beach and 10 minutes walk from town and the train station. The staff were friendly during check-in and I liked that we were given hot chocolate everyday. The hotel itself though does not feel like a 4-star by any means. It's not bad but it certainly can't be described as a posh hotel. We were ok as we had a special deal but I'd be devastated if I had to pay full price. Creaking floorboards, old carpet, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, building material debris outside the window. As I said, not bad, but not 4-star. I did like the exceptionally fast and free wifi. The swimming pool was tiny and as soon as two of us (both good swimmers) entered the water, the pool was effectively full so don't plan on doing a few laps before dinner. Overall, 'ok', but see if you can find something else.
