We visited the Royal Oak for a couple of drinks. Unfortunately once we?d ordered the drinks there was no seating available in the front bar area. When we asked if we could perch on some free tables, one of the staff spoke to us in a very rude and dismissive tone. We then tried standing next to the bar however were told quite abruptly that we also couldn?t stand there ? overall we were made to feel unwelcome and more like an inconvenience than paying customers!

Just had a lovely meal at the Royal Oak. I have an onion allergy so often end up with little choice & a meal that tastes bland & insipid.
My meal was tasty & well presented and the service was quick & polite.
I would certainly return here again
Food and drinks: All our choice of meals were prepared promptly & served looking appetising & well presented.
I have an onion allergy & often find I get fed bland unappealing meals. Mine was tasty & well presented. I would definitely return here again ?

Lovely hotel, straight in the town center. Surrounded with antiques, restaurants and parks.
Due to its location, it has no parking lot, and the historic building have its limitations.
Kind staff members, a somewhat standard room, I am 190cm tall,so I found the bed a bit short, but comfortable.
The view is beautiful and terrible in the same time: the catedral is astonishing, but the close surroundings are a bit wonky.
The full english breakfast was great, and the whole place have a nice, cosy athmosfhere.
Rooms: Not too large, but decent rooms.
Nearby activities: The cathedral, the Hornblower, Police Museum.
Safety: Doors locked for the night time, fire alarm regularly tested ;-)
Walkability: Old, historyc building, surrounded with victorian streets, everything is just a few meters away, but the vehicle must remain away from the area, witch is a disadvantage for elderly people or families with children.
Food and drinks: Traditional food and drinks, all well made in a nice, cosy area.

Walked in for a few drinks.... Landlady/ staff was talking to a customer and we're waiting to be served... The said customer walked to the bar for another drink and he was served straight away while we were stood waiting total RUDE will never go in again....

This was a great place to go for a drink with great cocktails at reasonable prices. Lovely atmosphere, it was busy but pleasant.

First visit to the The Royal Oak and wasn't disappointed. Had a lovely evening meal. We were placed towards the quiet half of the pub which was very nice and relaxed. Food was delicious and will definitely be back when in Ripon.
