Dropped in for some breakfast. Can?t beat a good cafe breakfast - but sadly won?t go back.
The building has clearly got a damp problem and anyone with asthma should avoid, it?s not the best environment to sit in.
My husband and I went in, the cafe wasn?t full - I would say half full at best.
The tea was lovely but the food felt a little re-heated.
The main issue we had really was that while we we sat eating the elderly couple at the table next to us weren?t speaking to each other but in their phones - obviously fine but the lady was watching a show on hers and it was so loud, it overtook the whole restaurant.
I looked to the staff to do something who just shrugged and looked uncomfortable, they were young though to be fair and probably in experienced in the situation .
I lent over and politely asked the lady if she could turn it down and she snapped at me and said ? I would if everyone will stop talking because I can?t hear it?
Quite comical really, but just ruined the experience - a very basic experience overall added into the rude lady the staff ignore. Won?t be back. Sorry.

I went here with a friend, we got in around 9.20am,it very quite. We had a large breakfast each with toast and tea.
The breakfast was aaàaamazing, we couldnt knock it at all. Very quick to get the breakfast on the table.
Very pleasant, lovely and Martin who cooked the breakfast was lovely and chatty.
We shall be going again and again.
All in all a fab place to go,highly recommend it,if I could give 10 ? I would.

Called in yesterday, myself and wife had small breakfast and pot of tea. The breakfast was delicious and poached egg was best we've had in a long while.service was excellent and staff welcoming will definitely call in when in Ripon again

Four stars only because the toast looks anaemic, however the rest of the full English breakfast is perfection on a plate. Will certainly visit again next time I'm in Ripon.

Staff need to pay more attention to disabled customers coming in,instead of talking amongst themselves and telling customers that there is a button on the wall to hold the door open.
What is wrong with people today, if its not their business they're not bothered.

Called in for a light lunch. It was very busy at 1.00pm then eased off.
Owner and staff are pleasant and helpful. Sandwich is generous on thick bread.

Seen this cafe a few times, so as it was quiet in Ripon today, stopped here for lunch. I am so glad we did... We had the jacket potato, with cheese and coleslaw and it was gorgeous. Nice wee side salad and creamy coleslaw, the jacket was big too. Highly recommended... the staff were brilliant too. Next time we will try the cake & coffee, can't wait.

Have to say, such a lovely cafe and the best cheese scones I have ever tasted. So much so, I bought some to take home.
If visiting Ripon I would recommend this cafe ?

Went to Ripon on a day trip. Found this lovely & friendly cafe.\nPlenty of choice & good value. We had a good chat with all the staff and because there was five of us put a chair at the end of a table for us all to sit together. Would definitely recommend another visit.

Looking for a quick light lunch we headed into this little cafe - what a find. My husband had a beautifully light Victoria sponge, plenty of jam and butter cream filling, and a good portion. I ordered a ham sandwich and couldn't help but burst out laughing when it arrived; it was enormous, generous to a fault, lovely bread and beautiful ham with no stinting on the quantity of ham, or the quality. Really good value, but do not expect delicate little sandwiches with the crusts cut off - this isn't that sort of venue!! Sadly my photo doesn't do justice to the sandwich...

On a rainy day in the Easter week we found this lovely cafe, right on the market square near Ripon?s fabulous cathedral. There?s a bit of choice in this location but we had good advice from locals while paying for parking just outside in the Square. Very friendly staff, excellent coffee, and a surprisingly fresh choice of food at very reasonable prices. For lunch my husband enjoyed a BLT sandwich, and I had a brilliant smoked salmon and mozzarella quiche made by the chef. Beautifully presented! Highly recommended.

We were in Ripon whilst caravanning in the area and wanted some lunch. There are loads of places in the square but we like to support the local businesses where we can, and the Cafe on the Square had a good rating from the local council. \nWe were in about 12:15 and managed to get seated in the window. A pleasant young lady came to clean the table and brought us menus. We both had Paninis and a pot of tea, ordering and paying at the counter.\nWhen the food came, it was well presented, and tasted as good as it looked. The pot of tea was spectacular ??.. a proper pot of decent tea, we must have had 6 cups from it, and we were asked if we wanted more hot water.\nAll in all a great local Cafe with good service, tasty food and a cracking cup of tea.

We came because the lady who used to run Cafe tempo now works here. \nI thought the interior was nice, roomy and light. Good view of the market square. There weren't that many tables so we could hear other conversations.\n\nWe were asked to go to the counter to order and pay. We assumed this must be the normal process. I prefer it when people come and take your order - There weren't that many tables.\n\nReceived our drinks. My can of Sprite was dirty and so was my glass which made me feel icky about the rest of the utensils.\n\nFood was nice apart from the coleslaw which seemed bought in cheap. I don't think there was a children's menu - we weren't offered one.\n\nThen as we left we were accused of not paying by the person we had paid! When we said we had paid, she gave the lady who worked at cafe Tempo a funny look as though we were lying. I believe they were related. Ruined it for me. Eventually they said it was fine and we left.\n\nThey certainly need to be more organised. It was so embarrassing and offensive. It's the first time that's ever happened to me! Not even an apology.
