Room was fabulous ? Nice and Clean, Very comfortable and warm.Food & drinks: The Bar Menu was decent and reasonably priced. The Spicy Chicken should come with a warning! The Chilli Dipping Sauce was really hot, It reminds me of a Caribbean Pepper Sauce with intense heat

We stayed at the inn a few weeks ago. The landlady was nice. The accommodation was terrible. We had to ?hip and shoulder? the door to get in the room. It was difficult to get in the room and we were soaked from the rain by the time we did manage to open the door. The bed and pillows were rock hard, with the pillows being flat. When we talked to the landlord he didn?t apologise, he just stated that the door can get stuck. We were travelling with another couple and their room was fine.

Based on previous reviews, we were a little apprehensive. However, we experienced none of the issues raised. Our room was spacious and mattress very comfortable. We overlooked the caravan site but had no problems with noise whatsoever. The two ladies serving dinner last night were attentive and friendly. They were somewhat let down by the unavailability of certain dishes which were on the menu. Having just had the rush of the bank holiday weekend.Scott seems to have suffered some flack in previous reviews, but we found him to be approachable, informative and very personable. All in all, a very pleasant 2 night stay. Thankyou.

Was very apprehensive after reading previous reviews but think these people must have gone to a different place to us. Rooms were nice and clean, food great and lovely scenery. No complaints from us.

What can I say. We had two nights bed and breakfast with one nights evening meal gifted to us as a gift. We were apprehensive because of some of the negative reviews on here, but we shouldn't have worried. From the minute we walked in through the door we were met by the delightful Mo who checked us in and showed us to our room, a superior double, which more than lived up to our expectations. It was huge, much bigger than your average hotel room, well furnished with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Coffee making facilities were ready on a side table and there was a cosy ensuite bathroom with a large bath and excellent overhead shower, with shower gel and hand soap provided. We had drinks in the bar which was cozy and well stocked and we can only say Mo behind the bar was a joy to spend time with, a lovely young lady with a very pleasant and welcoming manor. The evening meal was excellent with a good choice of starters and main meals. Breakfast on both mornings was again, excellent, and we were served by Sean, who was polite and welcoming. There was a choice of cereals and warm dishes, we opted for the Yorkshire breakfast which was really good and set us up for the day. All in all we had a fabulous two day stay at the Black Swan and will definitely be back in the future, it's position is excellent for exploring that area of Yorkshire and the facilities and food are excellent. A very big thank you to Mo and Sean for making our stay such a pleasant and enjoyable one.

We were a little apprehensive having seen previous reviews but our experience was totally different! Our room, no7, spacious, clean and a lovely comfortable bed. Overlooking caravan site but no noise whatsoever. The 2 ladies serving evening meal were so friendly and welcoming. Scott, our host, was also friendly and approachable giving lots of information about the area. We had a very good stay here and would recommend it. Thankyou.

Just returned from a weekend break to this campsite behind the pub, first impression was good but that changed within minutes, the landlord greets you as you drive in and walks you down to your pitch- £40 per night to pitch up on a middle section of the sight which is grass and a steep gradient, campers and caravans are hemmed in from every side so no chance of privacy at all as you are overlooked on every side, we made a point of saying we were not happy being put on such a steep incline but was told by the landlord/owner that there is no such thing as a flat campsite ????4 flagstones later with much elbow grease to level it up we managed to make the most of a bad situation.... hemmed in like cattle for this price is disgraceful but it seemed his beer and waiting clique/entourage were more important that keeping the customers happy, the first night was met by an unruly loud vulgar couple arguing and swearing until 4am, yet no one from the management team challenged this or asked them to leave. There are zero facilities to recycle anything, the bin area was disgusting with food, plastic, glass , broken electrical goods all just thrown in to the same bins which were already overflowing on our first day...... please do not waste your hard earned cash on this shocking place, the mere fact that none of these reviews have be given a reply by the owners speaks volumes.

Well, The Black Swan certinally employed a great website designer. Looks can be deceiving. I'm stuggling to work out how they've got a 4 star rating on TA and Booking.com ...something doesnt seem to add up. A friend described it up quite well as 'camp site pub'. My mum said if you've nothing good to say don't. Wish I looked before booking, but checking out 'scores on the doors' is well worth a look. Decide for yourself.

The location was lovely, amazing views and a fantastic beer garden. Unfortunately the service and the beds let us down on our stay. My husband and I booked a last minute night away for my birthday. We wish we hadn?t have bothered. We paid extra for a superior double room. This includes an extra large bed. The bed we had was 2 singles, with 2 single mattresses pushed together! And when I said it is the most uncomfortable mattress we have ever slept on, I mean it was physically painful! So bad in fact that we were up, with our bags packed at 5am, counting down until 8am so we could check out and go home to get some much needed sleep. The customer service was similar to the mattress, practically none existent and and painful. The main issue was clear that they were understaffed and could not cope with the level of trade. There were only 2 members of staff on a Saturday evening and this included the dining room and bar area. The first frustration came when we were seated. It was a good 15 minuites before we were given a menu.. to then be told a list of meals that were not available. We made our selection and patiently waited, and waited and waited? for our order to be taken. When the waitress came over I asked if the chips that were served with the steak pie would be thick cut chips or fries as that would effect my decision as to whether I would order it. Her response was ?Urm, it?s a proper pie, with pastry and steak and .. chips? . Excellent, glad we cleared that up. I took my chances and ordered it anyway.Along came the starters (eventually). My husband was lucky to not suffer third degree burns from the salad his prawns were served with. It was clear our food has been sat waiting under a hot light for a long time waiting for service. We laughed about it. What?s not to enjoy about volcanic cucumber. It would have been nice to cool our mouths down with a drink but unfortunately we didn?t receive a drink until 75 minutes after we were seated. (Maybe my own fault, my dad always did tell me to make my drink last whilst dinner when I was a kid). We eventually waved down the waitress to order some drinks. Then we were waiting for our mains. The bar manager (we presume) .. came over to clear our table. Well sort of, he took the place mats and cutlery that we weren?t using and placed them on the table behind us for the next group to use! (This is after we had been at the table for over an hour and had stacked our plates on them). He then came back and took our plates from our starters away and asked if we would like a drink. We explained we did order some but it doesn?t look like they are coming.Moments later, the waitress was back for a reminder as to what drinks we had ordered. We told her again and off she went.On returning. My drink was completely wrong. I again had to call her over to ask what was in it. I said ?this does not take like Disaronno. What is in it??. Her response was ?oh what did you want? I?m not much of a drinker and they confuse me? .. eventually the right drink came. The service was slow and awkward to watch. At no point was there an apology for the long waits or poor service, it felt like we were inconveniencing them by being there.Long story short, we do not recommend staying here unless you are keen to experience a faulty towers remake. Also the pie was served with fries.

We stayed for 3 nights paid a lot with money gifted from our wedding. The setting was lovely, but no mention about caravan park on the website. Mo was kind and friendly on our arrival. Yorkshire breakfast 1 of everything and full of greece, burnt black crunchy egg underneath didn?t have breakfast there again, we both had bad stomachs. The owner who called himself Scott and Sean cooked and served, he was extremely rude to other guests when they enquired about breakfast options. The rooms were not as described on website and had no toilet door, there was no blind on bathroom window or frosted glass for privacy, the air slots stuffed with toilet paper, dust everywhere and stains on the walls. The evening meals, turned out Chef was also the owner Scott/Sean, the menu photos on the website are a false impression. Table booked at 6pm at 5pm he was still sat there drinking with friends, so we ate else where. Very disappointing and awful experience. Wish we had read reviews before booking.

Should have gone with my instincts and walked out not long after we went in.Asked for a table for two but were initially sat next to a table of 'locals' or 'regulars' who wasted no time in giving us daggers! Management were 'all over' their table, swapping chairs and tables to accommodate them and their growing party, regardless of our obvious discomfort and almost, seemingly, invisibility.Shortly after our drinks came and well after the 'locals', whenever they turned up, had all been pampered to, we were moved into the 'restaurant'.Things didn't improve, really, service was slow and food was at best, acceptable. All the while we could hear the management laughing and joking with the aforementioned table / regulars. Shame really as its a pleasant looking place and could be, potentially, a real gem if run in the right way.I don't work in the customer service industry, but if I did, I would use this experience as the perfect example of how NOT to treat customers.Yours, is the worst pub / diner I've been in for a long while. Yorkshire welcome??? Yorkshire it may but welcoming it was not!AndyFood & drinks: As above.
