Just Lovely As Always, we ordered some sandwiches and chips and our waters was attentive and friendly. Lovely food and again a warm welcome. We never tire of coming here

Called in on our way back from from Scarborough , we hadn't booked but they found a table for us, the staff were very welcoming and very efficient they really made you feel at home, the pub was clean and cosy, we had Garlic Mushrooms for starters which came with a small warm loaf of bread , it was amazing! we had steak for main came with chunky chips, side salad, a large mushroom, a tomato, and very large home made onion rings, the whole main was to die for cooked to perfection. didn't have a pudding (not like me) but i was too full with the meal...... you really need to treat yourself and go you will not be disappointed my whole experience was just brilliant couldn't fault a thing.

I?ve just popped into Malton, to visit family. Before the two hour trip home I fancied pub food. OH MY GOODNESS? I?ve just had the best steak and ale pie for years! Great size, proper chips, delightfully creamy mash oh and peas? the pie had a wonderful fresh glazed crust in a dish that was full of gorgeous steak! Complements to the chef!!!!! Had a beautiful ginger sponge to finish off with. Soft and fluffy and delicious. I will definitely be back! Big thanks to the welcoming staff too! What a joy. Thank you.

I've past this place 10,000 times but glad we called in today after working locally. Service, food and ambience was spot on!

Our first time staying at the ham and cheese and the best experience we have had claire and all the staff were friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were catered for they even kept re supplying with milk as we kept running out the food was unbelievable and well worth the money we will definately come back again

Just got back after a couple of nights bed,breakfast&evening meal. Good food, comfy rooms and fabulous service. Extremely friendly people who couldn't have been nicer, and nothing too much trouble.

I really can't praise The Ham and Cheese enough. The service was second to none and the staff went above and beyond today. The food was fantastic and the restaurant was warm, cosy and just perfect for our family lunch. Will definatly be visiting again for their Sunday lunch next time...???

Situated just off the A64, the Ham and Cheese is easy to get to in a quaint location. Called here for lunch on the way to a stay at the coast and glad we did. Warm greeting upon arrival from bar staff (after booking over the phone the day before). Good range of beers and lagers available and the pub was clean and tidy and had a warm atmosphere. I went for the pulled pork ciabatta, the wife had a ploughman?s, and my daughter had a steak baguette. All were lovely and very filling. The side of onion rings accompanied the food very nicely! Clean toilets, and my daughter spent time talking to Terrence the tortoise in the bar area in his large tank. Could not recommend this place enough - would be idyllic to have spent more time there with a few pints in the warm on a cold dark night!

We've driven past many times, and always said we'd try it. Certainly not disappointed. The food and service were wonderful.

We came here for evening meal on route to the North Yorkshire Railway Light Fantastic tour. Car parking was easy with a large carpark although bear in mind our satnav said the pub was up a no through road; in fact the pub was a little further along on the right. There is a wealth of outdoor seating available some of it sheltered should the weather be quite bad. Inside the pub is aesthetically very pleasing on the eye with a decent bar area, pool table off to the left; a large restaurant style seating area is off to the right. The staff were very welcoming showing us straight to our table, taking a drinks order and providing menus. We realised we hadn?t really left enough time to eat and make the railway tour; totally our fault. The wife had a quick word with the staff who put our food on a rush which was amazing of them. Sure enough food was served very quickly and we made the railway tour. The food itself was excellent quality, very tasty and decent portion sizes. The menu was varied and categorised nicely allowing for quick browsing. There were 2 options for vegetarians and a specials board as well. Free Wi-Fi was available with a password displayed at the bar. There is also a comfy sofa seating area just to the right of the bar. The pub is dog friendly which is a big plus for us. Based on this experience I would totally recommend a visit to this pub; I look forward to returning to try some of the other menu options.

Lovely pub. We stayed for 2 nights and will definitely return. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was beautiful. We also had a lovely breakfast each morning. The staff were so welcoming and nothing was too much. Our dog was really well catered for too. Would definitely recommend.

On the way back and needed a late lunch, must have tried circa 4 places in the area, all with the attitude ?no room at the inn?, dropped in here and had a warm welcome. Food was good pub grub,, only disappointment was not able to offer decaf drinks such as flat white etc.
