Just returned home from a lovely 7 day break in the orchard cottage at rains farm. Great peacefull setting with open views, safe car parking and has mentioned by previous guests ideally situated for coast and country visits. Comfortable accomodation recently had a refurb in kitchen & bathroom. Didn't see a deal of Lorraine during our visit but very informative if needed and hospitable. Hope all went well at the vets Lorraine with your little dog. Thanks again Pete & Sue

We stayed in Primrose Cottage which was comfortable well equipped with plenty of towels provided. We loved the peaceful surroundings. and especially enjoyed seeing the wildlife on our doorstep, including hares and a Barn Owl. Good location for visiting Yorkshire Coast, Moors and York area. Owners made us feel very welcoming and provided a nice gift on arrival We would love to stay again.

This is a beautiful self catering accommodation in a quiet village with stunning views. The cottage was absolutely spotless with every amenity that you could want. We were so very comfortable and Lorraine and her partner were so attentive and would do anything to make our stay perfect, which it was. So if you want a relaxing break this is totally the top place to stay in the area. Thankyou both so very much for making our holiday perfect.

Lovely friendly welcome from Lorraine at Rains Farm. Stayed in Dove cottage. Very clean and cosy. Everything we needed and had a great week. Central for seaside or country. Being adults only added to the tranquility..

Firstly we stayed in the farmhouse which was warm, comfortable, spotlessly presented and well equipped. A lovely welcome basket was also waiting for us. The ground floor room is ideal for someone with limited mobility with level access and a low entry shower. Rains Farm is situated in a quiet location set in its own grounds. There is good car parking, wi-fi and phone signal. The location is an excellent base to explore from with the seaside resorts of Whitby, Scarborough and Filey all being easily accessed. In contrast the Yorkshire Moors, The Wolds and Forrests are all easily accessed. There are also so many things to see and do close by! - For the active explore Dalby Forrests. - For History try Castle Howard and in contrast Eden Camp. - Railway buffs ride the North Yorkshire Moors Railway - For ice cream go to Thornton Le Dale. - The Bangers and Cash base is also in Thornton Le Dale. - Foodies can enjoy the many specialist offerings in Malton. Where haven?t I mentioned? York of course!! Less than 30 miles away and has a very user friendly Park and Ride, don?t think of driving into the City. There is more than enough to keep you occupied for a day. Finally, and back to Rains Farm, Lorraine and Andrew are perfect and knowledgeable hosts having grown up in the area. They are helpful when needed but otherwise unobtrusive. We had a great holiday and would be happy to return.

Wonderful cottages, owners are lovely and very inviting. Facilities are great for use and travelling to nearby costal areas and villages for pub grub or local supermarkets in Malton. Fantastic courtyard with seats and a table to sit out in and be able to get a good bit of sun, when the weather is good. Did not want to leave when the time came. Will definitely be back

I stayed at Rains Farm with my Mum for a few days last week and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Lorraine is a fantastic host. Wren cottage was lovely and cosy and with a fabulous view overlooking the pond and the Yorkshire countryside beyond. It?s a great location for visiting surrounding areas and very peaceful. Wouldn?t hesitate to go back for another stay. Thanks Lorraine x

An excellent, well run destination. Spotlessly clean. Lorraine extremely friendly and hands on. The cottage, Wren, had absolutely everything we required and the kitchen equipment first class - everything needed for making a snack to a banquet. The bedding was beautifully laundered and the beds comfortable, excellent sleeps. Location good for visits to North Yorkshire beauty spots - Thirsk, Pickering, Ampleforth, Byland Abbey, North Yorkshire Moors, Dalby Forest, Whitby plus Scarborough and Bridlington areas where there is lots to see. We wanted to be socially distanced so this area gave us lots of choice to see places not normally on the holiday trail. Would definitely recommend.

we had last minute plans and looked for a break in Yorkshire. After much searching found this lovely property. Lorraine was kind enough to allow us to use the farmhouse, as all other properties were in use, usually only available for B&B for up to 4 couples. We arrived to find good breakfast stuff for us to use, fresh coffee, teabags, eggs and milk. Excellent stay. Around 1.3 miles to nearest pub/restaurant but lots in the area to do.

We have just spent a week at Wren Cottage on Rains Farm, lovely host, clean tidy cottage, nothing we felt it needed apart from our own bed. The location is lovely and is perfect for exploring the North York Moors. York is an hour away and worth a day trip and the coastline is easily accessible within an hour with some lovely scenery and small villages, Whitby?s Harbour and abbey ruins or traditional seaside towns like Scarborough.
