Nice pub in a beautiful location. Food was good and the staff were lovely.
In the summer it is probably a lot nicer atmosphere. They have a very large outdoor seating area. In the depths of winter the inside was a bit tired looking.
Don't get me wrong. It is a nice evening out, and I will definitely return in the summer time.

We had an evening meal in the bar area, including venison casserole, & venison loin. I have given 4* as the other family members loved their venison casserole with creamed potato, however, I was surprised to be somewhat disappointed with my main course content.
Although the loin as served was delicious, I'd opted not to have any 'side order', having thought the ordered course would be a complete meal (especially for ~£30). It turned out, an extra side order purchase was needed in order to have what I regard as a basic accompaniment, such as potato (creamed or new), so having to order a basic side on top seems a bit 'unecessary'.
My treacle tart for dessert was great, though served at room temperature. A cheese (x2) course, with with excellent cheese and crackers, however the cheese portion was definitely on the small side...

Fabulous food (you must try the whole Nidderdale trout), relaxed atmosphere but excellent service. Traditional Dales pub ambience, food prices are top end but wine is reasonable.

Another excellent visit to one of my favourite restaurants, which never disappoints. The dining area in the pub is warm,cosy & inviting with a real fire roaring away which is a delight on a winter's day. Service is friendly & attentive. Food is good quality & wonderful, delivering a feast of deliciousness that we all enjoyed. I can't recommend this pub/restaurant enough even though it's an hours drive for us, I still can't wait for my next visit.

We were staying in the area with family and booked for Sunday lunch. There were nine of us and we were fortunate enough to get a private room. The staff were lovely, friendly& knowledgeable , food was served quickly, perfectly cooked and tasted amazing, a wide choice to suit most tastes. Probably the best place we have visted in a long time, The only downside is that we live to far away to frequent on a regular basis but totally recommend a visit, you wont be disappointed!

Fabulous and generous as always. We visited for lunch with some old friends, and enjoyed fabulously cooking, and a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect in every way.

Walked all the way there for some beers and it was shut @ half term school holidays, try elsewhere, they need to display opening times on website ?

Had a fabulous 2 night stay in a deluxe room, which was lovely. During our stay we enjoyed 2 leisurely lunches, 2 excellent evening meals and 2 very nice breakfasts. The staff are all amazing and the chefs are very talented. The icing on the cake for us was being able to sample grouse for dinner on our first evening! It was exquisite and we can now tick that box on our 'bucket list'. Thank you so much. We will definitely be back in the future.
