Highly disappointed!..Room: I have never stayed so can't really comment.Location: The pub's location is really good. One star for service and overall:I phoned ahead on Thursday evening. No answer, nor an answering machine. Friday (today) at around 11.30am the same as before no answer.I then decided to go to the pub early, as I was staying locally, to see if I could get a meal and have a drink, as I didn't want to drive again due to being out all day. From the start I didn't feel welcome at all. I ordered a Fosters, it was dark and more like an ale. I took it over to the table. While the gentleman behind the bar was pouring my drink he couldn't stop coughing!I discreetly explained that the Fosters was not right and was flat, and very cloudy - like ale - and I had one sip and it was horrible. I felt awkward about telling them, because I didn't want to complain. The lady then poured me a different drink and that was okay.I asked if I could order some food and the lady went to the kitchen to see if they could fit me in, and the answer was yes. I was offered one of two different tablets, both of which were needed by 7pm. As I had arrived at 5.40pm I said no problem, the people that had booked the table I was sitting on then turned up at 6pm, and pointed my way, and I heard them say this is our table... while I was eating! I felt awful, and felt I needed to rush my food and drink.I ordered the small Chicken Parmo and it looked really nice when it arrived. But, as I started to eat, I noticed that some of the salad was wilted, so I avoided it. The center of the chicken was nice, but quite a bit of it around the edges was so tough and not edible, so left it.I felt uncomfortable as I knew people were awaiting for the table. I moved and sat on the chair next to the entrance with the rest of my drink. I went to pay and noticed that there was a table suitable for two persons, with on one sat at it, so most of the above could have been avoided. I asked the lady behind the bar, "that table seems free, can I sit there?", and she said yes and seemed embarrassed, adding, "that table isn't normally there so I didn't notice it". This has to be one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a pub.I have stayed in this area quite a few times over the years and previously enjoyed most of our experiences at this pub.I will not be returning and don't recommend it after this unacceptable experience.

Never stayed here, so can't comment on accommodation. The bar is cosy, with two fires, and the food is excellent. Good beers on tap and friendly attentive staff. Good location for walkers with several circular routes on the edge of the North Yorkshire moors.

Sunday lunch, first time having this here and it did not dissapoint, staff were super friendly and helpful, service was efficient and not a long wait, 2 pork roast dinners and 1 chicken. On the plate was meat, mash, roast pots, swede mash, roasted parsnip and carrot, stuffing, crackling and a large yorkshire pudding, on the side we got cauliflower cheese tenderstem broccoli, carrots and peas well all of this was beautiful, will definitely going back. I think the prices for dinners were around £13. Desserts were around £6.50 a chocolate brownie and lemon creme brulle.

This place has a single spot for campervans as well as a camping field. I stayed with my campervan and had a meal and drink in the pub in the evening. The staff were amazing the food was delicious and the place along with the tranquility is out of this world. I couldn't say a bad word if I tried. Great place, great people.

Beautiful Sunday lunch - warm welcome from staff and excellent quality food. Large portions, quick service, lovely surroundings. Many local pubs couldn?t fit us in for Sunday lunch so we tried here on a whim. Definitely will return, lovely outside seating area too which I?d like to try next time but the rain showers spoilt it for today! 5*

I came in early to the village from my walk. I had to sit somewhere and wait for my bed and breakfast should open. So I took a lunch at Blue Bell Inn. So just for two hours of eating, relax and talk with the staff, I can inform that the food is supergood and it´s a lot at the plates. The staff is truly helpful and very nice. Thanks.

Four of us ate here on three consecutive nights whilst walking in the area. We sampled a wide variety of the menu, each meal was of exceptional quality, quantity and value; from the flavours of the dishes, quality of the fresh vegetables and overall presentation. My advice: book in advance, you won't be disappointed!

Camped in their back garden, showered in their shower and ate one of the best pork dishes ever in their restaurant area. Very friendly and helpful staff and ideally located for me on the Coast To Coast route.
