A wonderful inn, with wonderful food, great host and a fantastic atmosphere. All at a reasonable price. Who could. ask for more. I would recommend it to anyone. Steaks cooked to perfection as requested.

We?ve eaten here many times and always really enjoyed the experience but yesterdays?s Sunday lunch was rather disappointing. A lovely dining room with friendly, efficient service but the quality of the meal was not up to the standard expected. The roast beef was tasty but with a lot of inedible fat and gristle and the roast potatoes were soggy rather than crisp. Not a great meal!

We fell on the Dawney Arms by accident but we were so glad we did. The food was amazing. The member of staff who served us was faultless, really accommodating, efficient, helpful and friendly. The landlady, who is also the chef came to our table to make sure we were happy with the food. Really must say that this was one of the best pub meals we?ve had in a very long time and would highly recommend checking this little gem out. Wonderful ?

Popped in for a meal when passing. A warm and friendly welcome by staff and locals.A good selection of drinks and food on the menu to cater for all tastes.Quality, quantity and value of our meals were outstanding.All appearing to be homemade, fresh and served piping hot.Will definitely call in again if we are passing by !

I would say this is without a doubt the best pub for food, service and atmosphere I've ever had the fortunate luck to have discovered. The landlady is the chef and she's so good that she introduced herself and personally came out to make sure we were satisfied with our food which of course was possibly the best quality and home made available and the portion sizes are very generous but isn't reflected in the price. Exceptional value for money. We would dedicatedly call in again next time we visit York.Parking: 6 or so bays on frontage

Was staying in nearby cottage for 2 nights attending a wedding at nearby Woodstock , so planned to eat here on the first night ! Great choice ! The staff really pleasant and attentive! The food was very impressive and tasty ! Be sure to stop on your travels through here you won?t be disappointed!
