Staff deliberately hold back on the reductions so they can take the unsold stock home when they finish on a night. I went in tonight at about 830, one of the staff was scanning the reductions into a bag and waving the reduced items around at other staff members shouting who wants it. One staff member said no thanks got 20 of those in the freezer already!

I am usually a fan of the Co-op, I like the quality of the food, although I do find the service slow in most of the shops. I want to call out the ATM machine inside the Stokesley branch. This sits inside the Co-op, however when it did not dispense £20 for my mother using this, the staff were very unhelpful. They said the machine was rented from the Co-op by a 3rd party and was aware of this known issue but they were prohibited from placing a sign, as it did not belong to the Co-op. I was left contacting this 3rd party, but how would an older person cope with this? My mother was very stressed. On the way out, I had to inform another older lady not to withdraw cash. The staff stood by and said nothing. Very disappointed.

On holiday in the area and decided to call in and grab some essentials. Went to basket checkout lady with grey hair serving. Asked if I wanted tobacco? I replied no. Did I want to go through the self serve again no. Sent me to the checkout at the end where the assistant although less arsey than the other one took an absolute eternity to scan all the items of the couple in front. Meanwhile the grumpy one carried on serving other people with baskets! It took me less time to get the 10 items I bought than to be served. It?d have taken her 2 mins to serve me. There was no queue other than the person she?d already served. If I?d been your mystery shopper this was not the Co op experience I would expect. I?ll go to the one in Great Ayton next time, they?re much more polite and helpful.

Aubergines looked as if they had been used for target practice! Some items eg. pedal bin liners not available. Staff nice.

Expensive - because there isn't any competition whatsoever in Stokesley....apart from another Co-op Supermarket. It's not fair on residents who can't afford or unable to travel to competitors (Some miles away). The town is rapidly growing, but a planning application from another supermarket chain was refused for some reason.?
