Wonderful place to enjoy a delicious cheese scone, scrambled eggs on toast and loose leaf tea in a cosy and comfortable environment.

Very disappointing! Cosy open fire downstairs but it was full so you have to schelp upstairs, find a table and schelp downstairs again to order. It was chilly (both upstairs and the staff?s attitude). Ordered poached eggs on toast x 2 with bacon. Easy! Square shaped sliced cheap bread, scant butter, burnt toast, 2 rock hard eggs, bacon burnt to a crisp. One very bitter flat white and one weak and willing filter coffee. Pretty awful. I definitely won?t go again.

Came here for lunch with my wife. The food was excellent as was the service. The food was well priced. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Yet another small business exploiting healthier lifestyles and people who are lactose intolerant. An additional 60p for oat milk in coffee is like sticking two fingers up to VEGANS.... it's offensive!

Called in on spec on a Saturday lunchtime and we were lucky enough to find a table. Other folk weren't so lucky, but were told by surly staff that they didn't know if there were any free tables and sent the prospective customers to go upstairs and look! Surely a simple CCTV camera could be used to save folk moving around an already small building only to walk out disappointed? Service was on the slower side of acceptable and the drinks (a tea and Mocha) were really good. Food was good quality, but fairly meagre portions. The ploughman's lunch cost £12 with a £2 surcharge to add ham. This ham was tasty, but was barely a slice. Overall, not bad but we'll be looking for other places to eat in Malton.

Extortion on a plate. We thought we were getting exceptional sausage sandwiches and coffee for £18.90 what a letdown. Sliced bread, sausage that the dog turned its nose up at, a couple of slithers of tomato and half cups of coffee ( which they did refill after the introvention of another customer) Absolutely terrible.

Popped into here for a coffee, disappointed that they were charging a extra 60p per drink for oat milk. When the drinks came the waitress almost through the drinks on the table, so much so that quite a lot of the coffee was in the saucer. No vegan choices for lunch. On a positive note you can take your dogs in.

Was looking for a place mid afternoon for some tea and cake and it didnt disappoint. Parking in the marketplace right outside the cafe. Plenty of space inside particularly with the tables upstairs. Great range of cakes and drinks.

On a rare sunny day my friend and I stopped for coffee and used the outside seating area they provide. There was a slight mix-up and we received regular size instead of large but when mentioned to the friendly staff they gave us a complimentary refill. The coffee was to our liking and the friendly service always makes it a nicer experience....so we returned later in the afternoon for another!

Certainly, a cafe that should not be hidden! After being nicely recommended The Hidden Monkey by another local cafe who didn't allow dogs inside, it was great to find that the food and coffee was well worth a little extra walk.Five of us ate, and we all thought it was some of the best cafe food we'd had for a long time.Everything was fresh, well made and presented, and the coffees were also notable enough for me to comment how good my mocha was.As visitors to the area during a holiday, we won't be back in the foreseeable, however if we were in the area again we'd certainly look them up and hope any readers of this also do so and have a similar lovely experience.
