We were given a room that was uncleaned so we went back down to reception for a new room, we were promised some money back and were given a new room but the new room had a dirty bathroom floor, broken glass in the window and most of the light bulbs were out. At checkout the receptionist conveniently couldn't find our paperwork and instead gave us am email for a refund. The manager again promised it would be sorted but of course it wasn't, so we paid full price for an awful stay. The staff also aut to have a lesson in hygiene ?

Fantastic location, bought on Wowcher so was reasonable, but room was too cold, we discussed with reception who told us there were boiler problem but it should come o later...it didn't. That also meant no hot water at sink. Also in room 142 you can hear the extraction system working outside window constantly. Ive given a 2* for the comfy bed! Breakfast is supposed to be available intil 10am but by 9.45 it was depleted and no coffee machines working. Staff were lovely and friendly, I felt for them. Lovely building but carpets etc very dated.

We only went for afternoon tea using the half price voucher from Your Harrogate so can't comment on rest of the hotel. The foyer was smart as was the restaurant area. Staff were polite and helpful and gave us a doggy bag to take our leftovers home - no point in waiting good cakes! ?Parking at the hotel is very limited to a dozen or so spaces out the front including a few disabled ones. Otherwise parking is on the nearby residential streets or council car parks which are nearby.Location of the hotel is good with short walk into town centre, to Betty's, the Pump Room Museum and the Valley Gardens.Nearby activities: It's a short uphill walk into the town centre and to Betty's. The Pump Room Museum and the Valley Gardens are almost right outside. The Old Bell Tavern and Fat Badger pubs are also a stone throw away as are sevefal other eateries. You'll be spoilt for choice!Safety: Covid restrictions are dropped as they are nearly everywhere now. However the place is kept very clean, customers are distanced when space available and the toilets are modern.Walkability: Location of the hotel is good with short walk into town centre and all central attractions.Food & drinks: Their Alice in Wonderland themed afternoon tea was good with a variety of cakes and sandwiches. Not the best in town for the money and the Yorkshire in me says only worth it if using a discount voucher. £24 per head is steep.

We stayed here for a murder mystery weekend. The hotel was obviously a once proud beautiful hotel. Some of the original features are impressive still. A great location, very central to Harrogate town centre. There is very limited parking, although there is open parking nearby, that cost £10 per 24 hours. The room was very spacious, but tired, uneven floor with a hole in, cold, had a portable heater which did help. Unusual layout , walking down steps and corridor to bathroom which again was spacious but very tired. Breakfast was ok, but in a huge dining area that lacked any cosyness or ambience and again was on the cool side. The service was ok, nothing special but nothing poor either. Overall an adequate stay but would have been disappointed if we had to pay full room price plus parking.Rooms: Spacious but cold and tired.

We received a Virgin Experience for Christmas and decided to spend 2 days at The Crown. We upgraded to an executive room. The hotel is a beautiful building, albeit a bit dated. Our room was comfortable, lovely bed. The bathroom was good, a little bit chilly, as like the bedroom there was only single glazing which was a little draughty. There was a good varied choice of food at breakfast which is self-serve buffet style. We did not try the evening meals as we already had arrangements elsewhere. All the staff were very friendly and efficient. The hotel is in an excellent location for visiting Harrogate and we would stay again.Rooms: Our rooms was very pleasant and bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was nice, clean and well equipped. Our main issue was the single glazed windows which made the room a bit chilly. There are two decent lifts running up from reception to all of the floors and everywhere was well carpeted.

Location couldn?t be better, staff all lovely, architecturally beautiful, steeped in history. However, our room was comparable to the Britannia Hotel in Manchester, one of the countries worst rated hotels. This hotel was booked through our insurance, I got the distinct impression we were given the cheapest and worst room in the hotel, alas I felt I should be grateful we had somewhere dry and warm to stay while a replacement vehicle was sorted, though, as I write this at 5am due to the inability to sleep in this sweat box I feel anybody paying to stay here themselves will be sorely disappointed and the issues I?ve experienced cannot be isolated to this one forgotten back room?Where to begin; first everything is visibly old and not in a good way, worn out and aged, damaged, stained carpets, battered old furniture, in-operational sash-window, and a very tired bathroom. I struggle to believe the design and layout of the room ever looked good or worked, with the bed pushed up against the wall despite there being ample room for it to sit centrally to the wall allowing access to both sides, the bathroom split over two levels with a shallow bath sitting over both levels, (the bath on the raised level central door with toilet and sink either side would have made much more sense?) mismatched gray square floor tiles lay at 45 degrees with awful cello tape along the step, paired with white rectangular wall tiles AND black square wall tiles? I fail to believe any consideration was given when designing that room just whatever spare bits they had laying around, no towel rail.A split level wall cutting through the room could have made a lovely feature headboard but instead just adds to the feeling that nothing was thought through, the peeling wallpaper didn?t help, but design/aesthetic aside, practicality was the bigger issue, the oddly positioned bed makes this room unsuitable for sharing, the old heating system, as beautiful as the cast iron radiator is the thick pipe running through the room make the ability to turn the radiator off and any hope of regulating the room temperature impossible resulting in a sleepless night as the room was far too hot. As beautiful as the sash window is it needs re-balancing as it falls back shut when attempting to open. The room comes with 3 single plug sockets one taken by the kettle. This falls short of the recommended 3-4 double per bedroom. The location of said sockets are even less helpful situated on the bathroom wall nowhere need the bed or desk. And oddly sitting above one another one low and one a meter high? Again aside from being poorly planned, you?re not meeting any regulations with that! There is so much potential with this room with beautifully high ceilings and original features but it?s just all lost in a sea of bad decisions. Our previous nights were in a historic hotel further north, costing half as much as the insurance paid per night for this room, a far less impressive building but more more thought out, everything functional, good night sleeps and no complaints.A real shame, in the right hands this hotel has the potential to be a landmark destination like The Midland in Manchester, but as above currently feels more Britannia with an owner who just doesn?t care.

Pretty much in the heart of Harrogate, comfortable and warm rooms, expansive bathroom, the linens and towels provided were generally excellent. Food was good too, Enjoyed breakfast especiallyRooms: We had an expansive bathroom, but no hooks on the doors though nor a heated towel rail, which was odd, but the linens and towels provided were generally excellent.
