Not as bad as some reviews make out.

This pub place is awful. They don't serve food until 6 pm, but won't let you even have a snack of your own inside before that time (having bought drinks, of course). The owner was rude. The place is full of "prohibitions" notes everywhere, doesn?t feel welcoming at all. The firewood made the air feel really dense inside (prob. really bad air quality). The variety of beers is limited. Overall, It's sad that there is no other pub in Horton knowing that there are so many people hiking around.

Called in for a drink and something to eat after 8 of us had just run the 3 peaks. Never had a welcome like that before,,,, barked at to go to the left hand side of the pub ( apparently the right hand side is for locals only). The person that served us only gave us 1 word abrupt answers to anything we said and that included ordering drinks so we very soon stopped all our conversations with him. We sat down on the cold bin liner covered stools and benches, presumably this is done to protect the seating from any mud from walkers and runners, I presume this pub makes most of its money from visitors and not locals and has done for quite a few years, so you would have thought the seating would have been done in a wipe down vinyl. The bin bag look made it look like it has been shut down for months and they hadn?t got round to removing them yet. Some other people called in and enquired about food and they got the same 1 word abrupt answers as we did ( glad it wasn?t just runners he disliked its walkers too). There was no one in the pub when we went in and by the time we left after 2 drinks there was about another 15 or so people in there all walkers or runners all being treated the same by Mr Angry ?

I stayed locally in Horton-in-Ribblesdale and finally plucked up the courage as a lone female to visit the local pub for a meal. I arrived at the same time as a family who were obviously well known to the staff and were greeted warmly however I didn't feel so welcome. I sat down with my drink to look at the menu waiting to be served. The family ordered their food and I waited. Another couple came in who again were obviously well known and were served..myself, still waiting! 30mins later I paid for my drink and left. Poor service, very unwelcoming. Would not recommend.

Coldest pub in the dales!!! Despite a fire in both sides(one only being for locals with a sign telling you so!!!) Everyone had their coats on it was that cold. Not what you want after a cold day on the hills. Staff were friendly enough. Wouldn't visit again if I had other

Came in after hiking and the hosts were more than welcoming despite being about to close. Lovely dinner and drinks while we waited for our train.

A cold and expensive hotel in a ideal location. Huge potential in the property. Place was opened late. No heating on when arrived and none in the morning. No one up to sort breakfast. Worst place I have stayed. Sort it out.

Pub is very small and one half (despite being empty) is just for residents of the area. Staff are very rude - they wouldn't do me a side of chips because it wasn't on the menu so I had a very greasy mushroom starter instead, which I couldn't finish. It's a shame because they obviously get very busy and it's in an ideal location for those starting or finishing the peaks.

The rudest owners. Simple as. After walking, we thought to make a pit stop for a nice refreshing beer. It?s clear they don?t like having customers. No wonder it?s up for sale. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Had dinner here after completing the Yorkshire three peaks challenge. The homemade pie and chips was delicious, as was the local ale. It was a Monday night so the place was quiet. Staff were friendly and efficient. Good menu. Clean toilets. 5 stars!

Did the Three Peaks on the 26th July and stopped here on the 26th and 27th. Upon turning up The Landlord Freddy was very friendly polite and Courteous to us. He couldn?t do enough to help us. We had Tea that evening and both had Lasagne, Salad and chips? the portions were massive and my wif struggled to eat hers? we then retired to bed before doing the Three peaks the following day and due to an early start, we were given a breakfast pot that was a nice touch ? the beds were exceptionally comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. We started at 6:30 next morning and due to weather we finished and got back to the pub about 8:30 that evening? they normally stop serving food @ about 8:00, however Freddy and Sandra watched out for us and made an exception going out of their way to assist and feeding us? this food was also very nice.. We yet again had an early night to get up for a nice hot bath (water red hot) which was very welcoming after 24 1/2 miles We then had our continental breakfast this morning (Friday ) which was more than adequate ? prior to leaving. All in all a wonderful experience with excellent and thoughtful hosts at a reasonable price I would certainly recommend this Hotel to anyone and return back again. Thank you Freddy and Sandra

As the only place open on a Wednesday we came here to eat dinner after spending a day hiking a section of the Pennine Way. What we loved: - the pub opened at 5pm and you could order food from 6pm- 8pm - there was plenty of seating inside and outside (most people sat outside as it was a sunny day) - they had clean toilets with plenty of soap and hand towels - the beer was tasty and you could pay by card - the food was tasty and fresh and they had a huge range of delicious sounding options on the menu - there was clear signage throughout the pub - the friendly patrons within the pub that we spoke to Things to be aware of: - there are a lot of signs handwritten/typed throughout the pub telling you the rules of the establishment- it can feel a little bit daunting - it is clear that some hikers/patrons have not been particularly kind/respectful which has led to a rather uncomfortable and awkward feeling within the pub- as some reviewers have written previously you feel like you're an inconvenience when ordering drinks/food - dogs are allowed outside not inside, there are signs provided about this - there were bathmats and plastic bags put on the chairs as they were prepared for walkers arriving wet- completely understandable

Based in Horton and Ribblesdale///flirts.altering.throwawayOne of two pubs in the small village, we went for a few pints and a meal. One side of the bar is locals only. The other for plebs. We were even told where to sit. There were tables reserved but we stayed till closing and no one had used them. Perhaps the Yorkshire saying ? Nowt as queer as folks? has significant relevance here.Meal was ok.

Half the pub shut apart from to regulars/locals and all tables were booked so had to sit outside, good job it was dry. No beer garden (anymore) so sat out front in carpark.
