We popped in Saturday evening for a couple of beers. Alot of tables in the bar area were reserved. A table that seated four was not, (4 adults and a 5 year old, just the job) double checked with the bar staff and was told that we were okay to use that table. Award winning couple Richard and Lindsey Johns' at the helm. The Plough, is a welcoming and friendly dining pub. He cooks, she looks after the front. Set in a beautiful and quirkie 14th Century pub with log fires, this really is the place to dine or relax with a local ale. Using the freshest of locally sorced ingredients, Richard creates a modern al a carte menu. Well kept ales abound the bar using local suppliers of the finests products. Well worth the de-tour off the main A170 road from Helmsley. Sunday lunch is a must. Bookings essential when dining.
