What a delightful cafe adjoining a lovely garden centre!
We visited on a fairly busy Saturday afternoon, after we thought might be rush hour but were seemingly wrong. Obviously this is a popular spot for folks to get a bit to eat and drink!
Thankfully we didn?t have to queue long as the assistant asked if we minded sitting outside, which given the lovely weather we actually preferred. After getting our table I then proceeded to the counter to order our food - a toasted tea cake and coffee, and a Dean?s burger complimented by a raspberry lemonade. The cashier apologised for the wait we might have to endure, but luckily despite the crush of customers we were served in remarkably short order.
The food was delicious, filling, and overall fantastic quality! Staff were friendly and helpful, and the place is very comfortable.

I'll start by saying the old restaurant before they built this new one was amazing, the food was consistently good year after year. Whilst I can see this new restaurant has many good reviews, it's not been our experience, three visits each one has been disappointing, yesterday's my wife and I visited for last time, it was again a complete disappointment. My wife had a prawn sandwich with a portion of chips, the bread was dry almost stale, the chips burnt and not very hot. My soup was nice taste wise but cold. Also when food came out, I mentioned we didn't have our drinks yet, I was told that I needed to be patient, that someone else would bring drinks, they did, ten minutes later, it's the first time ever my food has arrived before any drinks. I don't recommend eating here at all.

The Bothy cafe in Deans Garden Centre is a lovely place to visit. The surroundings are pleasant and well-kept, making it a relaxing spot. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the café serves great food?perfect for a coffee break or lunch.
There's plenty of parking and the site is easily accessible.

Just love this place. Go there every time I visit family who live in York. The food is always good and the staff friendly.
The only downside is you often have to queue to get a table but that's only because the locals know it's good too!!

Today had a lovely meal at the Bothy, sausage mash and veg. £12
Latte£3.50. this was a hearty meal three good size sausages very meaty not like the cheap ones.
on a bed of hot mash and gravy with a side bowl of mixed veg.
Would I go again defonatly.

We tried to visit today as we were walking passed but we was turned away at the door because we had our dog with us. NOT dog friendly!! Not even outside.
