Highwayman Cafe didn't let us down. Four of us came here for a Sunday breakfast after a disppointing experience elsewhere the day before. It was 10ish, busy with cars and people outside, but plenty of seats in and not a long wait. Friendly staff. The food was amazing, with tweaks to the traditional breakfast done to suit our adjustments/dislikes. It finished off our weekend away with friends nicely before we parted ways. We will definitely return in future.

Do not attend if you have allergies as this place do not want to deal with it

Almost a scamWe stopped by for a cold sandwich and drink and immediately regretted it. You are better off grabbing a £3 sandwich from a fuel station rather than waste time and money here.We asked for cold sandwiches, paid, then after sitting and waiting they came to say they ran out of fillings. I had to adjust my preference. The egg mayo cold sandwich we asked for had no mayo in it! How inconsiderate does one have to be to do this. Plus, they served it in a thick burger bun! A sandwich is not a burger! The cheese pickle sandwich was a joke. Thick burger bun, a cheddar cheese slice and some pickle jam.Again, get a sandwich from a fuel station and it will be miles better. Such a waste of money and time and a waste of place serving ultra low grade food.

Driven past lots of times & often thought about stopping. Did today & wish hadn't. Food ok, although, no description on what you get for breakfast, in regular, large or ultimate. Went for large breakfast & large cup of tea x 2, asked if wanted the black pudding with the breakfast, ok, why not, then totalled up came to more than the menu said, queried, to be told, you wanted the black pudding & that's extra. This was not stated at the time as extra, very bad. Suppose passing trade uses once & that's it.

The Highwayman is well named as others have noticed. Ten quid for a "large" breakfast which had one egg and one slice of toast. The food was fatty and poor quality. I left most of it.Two of the staff were arguing and bickering round the back (the two older ladies). It would have been one star only but the younger lady with the glasses on was really nice and a good laugh. A proper rip off.

Over the years I?ve stopped many times at the Highwayman. And while I?ve never found it outstanding? it has always been decent enough to keep me coming back. Not this time though. We stopped for two sandwiches and drinks from the outside service hatch. Delivery was very slow? there was no butter (or margarine) on the bread, no offer of condiments, no napkins? and the bacon had the consistency and taste of being boiled, not fried or grilled. My friend?s coffee was weak, so she requested an espresso shot adding. Although they charge £2.95 for an espresso, and £3.45 for a doppio? she was charged £2.95 for the extra shot. Will not be returning.

I know why they call it the highwayman now, £7 for a salad sandwich. I'd rather starve.
