Not a bad shop for the products and the prices but has to be some of the worst customer service going.
There was a guy in there who just started slagging off another pro shop that I go to and finished off his grilling of the shop by saying ?but I?ve never been? very weird sales tactic. Clearly not wanting the best for the customers if his main goal is to put other businesses down. Left without buying anything, very poor attitude.

I went in for a driver fitment. I saw young Dean who was very capable. He sold me last years model Ai Smoke driver for a great price. I warned him I would most likely have a nightmare round after the fitment so be prepared for an awful review ?. However the driver is awesome and obviously setup perfectly by him as fist round with it I managed an eagle on a par 5. (I haven't reached a par 5 in 2 for YEARS)

My son has been playing for about 6 months. We went in to ask advice and get his first junior set of clubs. Dave was excellent, he measured my son, then showed him the options whilst giving recommendations.
My son tried the club's and added an extra one to the set. He is extremely happy with the set. He has his first competition in May and is looking forward to letting Dave know how he does.

I had hoped to review American Golf as a whole and not pinpoint one location as the problems I encountered occured at more than one store and on the website!
First of all I will say that the staff in the York store are very helpful and knowledgeable, this is why I have given 2 stars instead of 1.
I was in the market for a new driver and visited the York store in the hope of seeing a few drivers up close and maybe even having a few swings, unfortunately the selection they had was extremely limited so I left empty handed.
Same story for the Hull store, again I left empty handed.
After this I attempted to order online (twice) on both occasions when confirming payment details I was greeted with the spinny loading circle and had to leave the page!
Needless to say I have since ordered from another online retailer and won't be going through the rigmarole of dealing with American Golf again, which is really sad as I was happy to pay slightly more if I could walk in to a store and walk out with a new driver.
Very disappointed.

Do not try on any shoes - you will be told that you will ?wear out the soles?. The Manager will also come to you and say ?you need to make a decision?. Really poor customer service.

I find them as expensive as a golf pro shop on a golf course but sell a good variety of golf kit.

Had an hour booked to try out some clubs before I commit to buying. My last set of clubs have lasted me over 25 years so my next set maybe my last. The store assistant had 4 different clubs ready for me to try, pretty much gave me 5 hits with each club and wanted me to make a.decision which set I want. Lasted 20 minutes. Awful attitude and clearly only there to get my commission. He told me that because my last 5 hits went the furthest and were more accurate then this must be the club for me. Had nothing to do with maybe warming up and and by the time I came to hit the ball I was striking the ball better. Awful experience in complete contrast to the Leeds shop where I have previously hit some balls where the assistant told me not to rush into it and try more clubs.

Visited on Saturday to get me my first set of irons, the guy that helped me was fantastic. We told him our budget and he picked out a few for me to try, didn't try to sell us anything above budget and even suggested a hybrid that would fit in too. Me and my partner have both said we will be back for all our golfing needs in the future
