Very enjoyable evening meal for my birthday! Couldn't fault the food or service and very good value for money.The only slight let down for me was the tables were a little small and a bit cramped for four people. Also they allow dogs, which in my opinion is totally unnecessary in a restaurant of this size.

I had originally planned on booking a table at Cooper's, but realised after looking online it was closed on Mondays. So instead, I decided to book a table at La Trattoria (would definitely recommend booking, either online or by telephone!) Was a tad early but that wasn't a problem, one of the young ladies showed me to my table. I was given time to look over the menu, deciding to go for the slow cooked beef shin Ragu with pappardelle... My word!!! The pappardelle was cooked wonderfully, nice and tender. Speaking of tender, the beef was cooked BEAUTIFULLY!! I didn't have to cut it, as it simply fell apart and was super tasty. The lady who served me was really pleasant and asked how everything was part way through, which I thought was a nice touch. I more than likely would have had a starter and a dessert, along with the main, had I not had cake earlier on, as the restaurant had some good things on the menu... Maybe next time! I'd be more than happy to return again, to La Trattoria on a future visit to Helmsley.

Visited last Monday whilst on holiday. Our son is autistic and doesn?t cope with waiting very well so we rang and pre-ordered our food. Staff were very accommodating and pleasant. Food was served minutes after we arrived and everything was gorgeous. Highly recommend the wild mushroom and truffle risotto. Lovely restaurant, nice ambience. Myself and my husband are hoping to have a night away later in the year and we will definitely be planning a return visit.

Sorry but only an average dining experience -we only had pizza, chips and salad- the pizza was ok but not as good as an M&S one- we had a tiny bowl of French fries costing £5- and a tiny side salad which comprised mainly of rocket leaves and one cherry tomato again £5- so for me not a great meal or value for money.

Called in here yesterday lunchtime without booking. The place was busy, staff were very accommodating and managed to get us a table for 2. I had the slow cooked bolognese paperdelle and hubby had aubergine parmigiana. Both were delicious and well presented. Nothing to complain about at all. We will no doubt call in again when in the area but will book ahead.

Arrived. Kept waiting for 10 minutes before getting seated in the worst possible seat. We asked to move to be told no other tables available yet the restaurant was mostly empty!! We left.

Well was told this was a lovely place to eat sorry but the food was not good at all what I had the shin beef paparadell just tasted well tomato ish my wife had lasagne with little or no bechamel sauce with it and fries they appeared to come out of bottom of bag like scraps really

Not been to this restaurant before.Both had a pretty decent pizza for a tenner.The service was friendly and efficient.The interior is more countrified than Italian but then again it is in Helmsley.
