Lovely old-fashioned pub, good beer (try the old peculiar) real fire. Fantastic location. Tip check it's open before

Halfway point on a circular walk from Hawes. Opened the door to a packed and buzzing atmosphere, 2 real fires roaring away to take the damp winter chill off. Found a cosy corner and we both enjoyed a pint of Theakstons Old Peculier. Fantastic!

What a great pub this is. The landlord is second to none a charming lovely man. You won't get a better public house with more charm it's so rustic. 3 blazing fires it takes you back in time we loved it.

One of the most spectacular pubs you'll visit.... Ran by one of the most bizarre families you will ever meet! Visited on a few occasions and not made to feel welcome. Visited again recently and qued for a long time whilst an elderly lady served. Asked for a pint and two cokes. Asked what Crisps she has and she looked at me as if I was stupid and pointed to a wall! Recently read online that the pub had closed and the community had bought the pub and was now operating it... Tried to make small talk and asked her about this... She bit my head off... "You need to check your information.... The internet is obviously wrong. Etc etc" Asked to pay on my card and she declared that she was 80 year old and can't see the machine... Offered to help but she shouted "why do people these days think it's acceptable to pay on cards!!! I can't see the machine I'm 80 year old" sighing and banging around... Clearly I a foul mood..... Ermm OK, sorry but before I headed off on my long walk over from Hawes I forgot to consult my crystal ball in case the barmaid was elderly and didn't like using the card machine ..... Or should I walk all the way back to Hawes use the cashpoint then walk back and pay for it... Hopefully this gem of a pub will one day get the landlord it truly deserves

A lovely traditional pub. The locals were really friendly. We went for a drink before going to see the Hardraw Force Waterfall. Definitely worth a visit if you?re in the area!

I adore this unspoilt pub and been comming once a year for years . We mix with the locals next to the fire and are always made welcome. The landlord is always pleasant and makes you welcome please don't change a thing. Some reviews are not happy as no food available. This is an old pub not a restuarante and I hope it stays that way so many good times here and hope there are plenty more to come

Characterful pub with very well kept beers and friendly, welcoming staff. No food menu at the moment, but we only popped in for an afternoon drink.

Lovely old proper pub serving real ale, unspoilt and in a great location being the entrance to Hadraw waterfall.

would be great if the pub could update their website for opening days etc as when I arrived on a Tuesday found the pub closed no notice to inform me as to when it will be open for custom. So very disappoint came all the way from Essex to view and have a lovely pub lunch

We arrived at The Green Dragon having done our homework for Hardraw Force waterfall. We arrived in the pub.We asked very politely if they were doing food.WELL you would have thought we had asked for the Crown Jewels. The older lady behind the bar barked back at me ? we are a drinking pub,no food ?.The pub owns the falls, behind the pub on their land we found YES a cafe doing food.No mention of this from the lady in the pub.Pub was very original ( Drovers Arms in new series of All creatures great and small ) but needed sorting out as it was chaotic.Be Advised.

Only open during the day on a Saturday and Sunday. The lady behind the bar was very friendly however the pub needs upgrading.

Visited The Green Dragon today as we wanted to visit whilst in the area due to it being featured in the TV drama 'All Creatutes Great And Small". On the previous day I messaged the pub via their Facebook page to double check if they would be open on a Monday lunchtime as I'm aware some hospitality venues close after a busy weekend. We recieved a message saying "We usually are if the weather is good. From 12ish. We only serve drinks though. Mark" As the weather was good we visited the area and then made our way to the pub. After visiting the waterfall which was next door we went around to the pub to find it totally closed up and in darkness. (This was at 12.45 so comfortably past the 12ish time mentioned in the message) Two other couples were also looking to visit. One couple from America who were also fans of the TV show and were wanting to specifically visit. This was such a shame

What a gem of a discovery, was made to feel so welcome we went back twice before our trip ended. Fabulous landlord who lent me a book on local history. Great historical bar area possibly dating back to 13teenth century. Bags of character plus a certain puddle out behind the pub. Well worth a visit in fact it's a must before the Gentleman landlord retires, top pint of peculiar too. Thank you Mark, for us it was the highlight of our tour of north Yorkshire. Wanna go halves on a bid for Pendragon castle??

I love this place. It's great to see it open. Sandwiches wrapped in cellophane, joyous. Great beer and well worth the walk in the rain from Hawes.
