We booked this fabulous hotel as a last minute getaway for 3 couples last weekend and I'm so glad we did. We were welcomed very warmly by Glenn who showed us to our rooms and gave us some pointers on what to see and do whilst in Hawes. The rooms were everything we needed and it was a nice touch to see we had water and homemade biscuits for the tea/coffee also provided. There was even extra milk left overnight in a thermos outside our room door. Well I thought that was so thoughtful of the hosts. The breakfast menu was great and did not disappoint the following morning when presented to us by Liz. It was all freshly cooked by Liz once we sat down. Hawes itself is lovely for a short break but equally stay longer and explore the area which has lots of interesting places and history. I would like to say please do not think it is only of interest to walkers and hikers. We drove to places and still saw so much that we loved. Thank you to Glenn and Liz and we will be back again xx

Herriots in Hawes is a cafe cum gallery and B&B in the centre of the village. Check in was friendly and welcoming and our room (No 6) was very clean and smart. It is also nicely decorated with light colours and has two good sized windows so it feels light and airy. Also, as it?s at the top of the house, it has lovely views of the village and surrounding countryside. Breakfast was served in the gallery tearoom and was excellent. After a fresh fruit salad with yogurt we both enjoyed the full English which was delicious and passed my simple three requirements for a cooked breakfast, ie quality ingredients, perfectly cooked and nicely presented. It was perfect. This was our first stay at Herriots but as it will now be our preferred hotel in Hawes we will certainly be back.

This was a surprise trip away organised by my partner to celebrate my birthday & the accommodation, hospitality, and customer service provided by Glen & his wife was exceptional! Great location, super clean, super helpful & helped my partner organise some lovely flowers & Prosecco in the room on our arrival. Breakfast was great and plenty of it & we were given a great recommendation for dinner at The White Hart. Thanks both for everything, we?ll definitely be back !

We stayed here on the Pennine way for a couple of nights which included a rest day. Liz and Glenn are great hosts. We had room 6 which was at the top of the house but worth the climb as it had great views and was lovely and light and airy. Hawes is a good place for a rest stop as it has all the facilities that you need. A launderette almost opposite Herriot's, a choice of about 3 or 4 pubs, the Dales Museum, the Wensleydale Creamery, a chemist and lots of cafes. Our favorite pub was just across the road from Herriot's, The White Hart. On our day off we were able to drop our laundry off at 9.30 in Streetwise Laundrette and get to the Wensleydale creamery for the 10.15 tour, leaving us time to visit the Dales Museum in the afternoon. After a good breakfast on both days we headed off to Keld to continue our walk.

Great hosts, clean and functional room, fab shower and the most excellent breakfast which included PERFECT poached eggs amongst the delicious locally sourced ingredients. This was a cheeky wee one night stopover for us 2 pals, not wanting to leave our break in the dales, stopped here to extend our tour. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating, in particular when we informed them in the afternoon that we were arriving outwith the designated arrival time. Hosts are also well informed and happy to assist on local amenities, walkers route tips and so on. For me, too many stairs due to personal mobility issues but, not to detract from a nicely run private BnB in a lovely location. It was a pleasure.

Great B&B in the hart of the village. The owners are very welcoming, attentive and helpful, especially about walks and things going on in and around the village. The rooms are clean and well equipped, the breakfast is nice with a good choice. We took our grandson there after taking our own children there in the early 90?s, to get some walking done and to see where Wallace and Grommet got their cheese from. Which you can still do. The village is still lovely with a good choice of eateries, try the Wensleydale Pantry, good wholesome food at a reasonable price, also the White Hart hotel is good. There are more antique shops than I remember and unfortunately the rope works has closed but still a lovely place to stay.

Great B&B in the heart of lovely Hawes. A nice bedroom with comfortable beds and a good shower. First rate breakfast. Ideal place for walkers and would recommend their Herriots Way package. Liz and Glen are wonderful hosts.

We couldn't recommend Herriots in Hawes highly enough. So helpful getting our trip organised, welcoming and informative when we arrived, breakfast was superb, great packed lunches, showers hot and much needed after the walking. Rooms were clean and well stocked with everything you need. If we had to find a fault it was that the rooms were a little on the small side but that's being picky!

It was a lovely stay. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable ñ. Glen was nice. The freshly cooked breakfast was good. After a long drive in the day, my friend and I had a good relaxing night there. It was definitely a beautiful experience in memory in a England small town.

We were a party of walkers from over the border in Lancashire in Hawes for a walking weekend. Glen?s hospitality was fantastic as usual. The hotel is in a great situation at the bottom of the town and our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Would recommend for those looking for a good nights sleep before a long trek.

Beautiful view of the entire section of the Pennine trail that I had just completed. Perfect room, bedding, extras. Breakfast was best of the entire two-week trip. Highly recommend the top floor rooms if available.

A friend and I stayed in Herriot's of Hawes for 2 nights in April and thought it offered good value as a budget option. It has a great location in the center of the village, convenient to shops and pubs, but is very quiet at night - inside and out. There's a single parking spot for loading your car. Luckily, street parking is easy to find and the village car park is only a few minutes' walk away. The hosts, Glenn and Liz, are lovely people. Glenn was very interested and helpful with suggestions, and Liz is an excellent chef. We had a double room with 2 beds that had a great view of the town and hills. Herriot's is clean and neat and the shower was hot. The reason I give a 4 rather than a 5 rating is that our double room was really small for 2 people with suitcases. There was a closet to hang things, but we still tripped over our bags and each other. We debated asking for a 2nd room, but decided we could get by for 2 nights. (I think the place was full, anyway.) If you're on a short trip or just backpacking and only carrying 1 bag/pack, the room size would be less of an issue, as you wouldn't be carrying as much stuff. The breakfast room is spacious, but currently is only open during breakfast. (I think during pre-Covid times, they used to host lunch or dinner.) It would definitely be nice to have a public space to sit besides your small room. If you want to sit somewhere besides your room, or have some private time away from your traveling partner, you have to go out. There are plenty of options nearby, though.

Brilliant place to stay - great breakfast and very friendly. Great location in centre of the village and nothing too much trouble. Smart rooms and spotlessly clean. Highly recommended. Looking forward to visiting again.

I booked Herriott's for friends and family attending our wedding, all the guests expressed what a fantastic location and friendliness of Glenn the owner. They all enjoyed their stay and highly recommended the guest house. Thank you
