Expensive for what you get, In need of an upgrade. Lack of plug sockets, ancient TV & basic facilities. Could do with a check in desk as it's unclear where our what you need to do. Lovely location and nice enough beds thoughRooms: Very low tech, old fashioned & basic

Found this gem tucked away just a short distance from Pateley Bridge. Very quiet, the staff are really helpfull, the room complete with a four poster bed was very comfortable. The food was exceptional. Highly recommended. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Exceptional pub,/hotel in a delightful position in the Dales, close to Pateley Bridge, a lovely walk down the river Nidd and arrive at The Sportsman for an excellent lunch menu, lunch specials in the bar and a fabulous pint of Boltmaker or an good selection of wine. An atmosphere of quiet quality in a wonderful location close to the river and beautiful walks near Gouthwaite reservoir, will be back, well done

I have to start with the staff. Straight away you can see that every member of staff love working there and enjoy their job. We could not have been made to feel more welcome. Everyone was friendly and helpful and catered for our every request. We had lunch in the restaurant which was absolutely lovely and reasonably priced. We sat in the bar next to the fire, what can I say about that on a cold autumn day. Perfect. Our room had everything we needed including a hairdryer and toiletries, tea making facilities. You can regulate the radiators to suit your needs. The beds and pillows are really comfy and we had a good nights kip. The pub is situated in easy reach of How Stean Gorge, Pately Bridge, Brimham Rocks and I would say some lovely walks. We will definitely be going back.

Enjoyable one night stay at this gastro pub.The hotel / pub is in a remote village in a beautiful area, certainly off the beaten track. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and very quiet - lovely. The menu for dinner was excellent, the quality of the food at both dinner & breakfast was top notch. It's a family run business, everyone is very friendly and professional.Prices are on the high side, but so is the quality.I would happily return, which is the ultimate recommendation.

I stayed here with a friend end of May (27-28.5 to be precise). We were on a motorbike tour back from Scotland on our last night before we had to take the ferry next day from Hull back home. This was - by sheer luck - the best stay and worthy of the last day of a fantastic trip. The hotel is located in a painfully beautiful area in Yorkshire. In a rather remote area and close to be a magic place. Our room was great, food was fantastic (the beer as well as the Whiskey). But I have to stress the that the staff was beyond excellent. We were welcomed in a warm way and everybody was nice, warm, caring and professional.OK - the check-in took a moment, but who cares when you can have a pint in the meantime.Next morning we came an half hour too early for breakfast - but again, just nice and warm service.I will hopefully return to this little gem - guys, treat those kind of places with love and respect.Same applies for the staff. The same guys who took our last order at the bar served our breakfast.Guys: I have worked long enough in hotels to know what this means. You seem to love what you do.

Great location and lots of parking. Friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was good. Wine very nice. Nice to be able to include dog. Some vegetarian choices but not a lot and need expanding but what we had was good. Everything worked fine. Shower worked well. Nice toiletries. Bed comfortable. Easy check out and check in. Would go back for another one night stay.Walkability: Nice walks along the river from by the hotel.

Still a good place to stay. Our room was spacious and comfortable, the lounge is a pleasant spot to sip a glass of wine. All the staff were friendly and efficient, the service lacked for nothing and the food is good. It would have been nice to have a box of tissues in the room and some of the chairs in the dining room, whilst being picturesque (think Antiques Roadshow), are a tad uncomfortable. Overall, a smashing place for a break.
